Thanks for the answers. Yeah, I am looking forward to seeing what you guys are able to do and get out of these cars. I want to see you guys get to 300whp on stock turbo if possible and then see what you guys can do after that with bigger turbo kits.
No, I'm not on any SRT-4 forums, but I LOVE skittles. I just wish they came in a coupe... My parents wouldn't let me get a skittle because they were "Too fast", they said the same about a SS/SC...

But, I will get a 2009 SS/TC in probably October, or somewhere around there.

LOL, must be over here then that I see ya. Yeah I would have loved the skittle to come in a coupe. Would have looked way better. But with a kid on the way the 4 doors will come in handy and the wife won't be able to say I have to get rid of it.

I'm not a big fan of the N-SRT-4's looks but you can't deny the car's potiental. We will be fortunate "IF" the SS/TC will be able to match some of the HP numbers the 4's have achieved.

Absolutely.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the look of my SRT-4. But to tell you the truth, the overall decision to buy the car was not looks at all, it was the engine and the potential it had, and that it was $20k. Hell the Corolla S that my wife wanted to buy was the same price and when you put your foot to down on the gas you could barely tell that you were accelerating.

I did not like the look of the 1st gen neons at all. The 2nd gens came out and was still not a fan of the look of them. But with the SRT-4 body kit on the car, for me atleast, it changed the look of the car alot to where I did like it. As for the interior argument that always goes on and the stupid insults like "your interior is slow" or "inferior", honestly I don't really care. it has what I need and that is it. I love the viper seats, it has A/C, it has a radio, and cup holders (a must). As long as I get that I am pretty happy. If it comes with more, wonderful, but not needed. Would rather have some ***** to the engine than a fast interior.

Now the cobalt, looks good almost all the time. I like it. But some days when I am looking at it, it just reminds me of a celica. The long sloped back end with the wing, and low front. I guess it depends on the angle of the photo. But when you are standing in front of it (there is one silver one over here) it looks very nice.

Either way, I hope that you guys are able to do the same as we were able, put down some very nice numbers on your SS/TCs and give the import guys a run for their money.

Haha. Right...... I haven't seen one Cobalt SS murder a SRT-4, or a Lancer Evolution. Please post some videos to back up your comment.

typical responce from a newb with 3 post. Try actually edgamacating yourself before you post.

Murder is a strong word, when you are talking about two FWD cars with almost exactly the same power output. The SRT-4 has 12.6 lbs/hp; the SS/TC has 12.3 lbs/hp

There is no murder involved here. They should be evenly matched where driver skill and tire traction will be the deciding factor.

Honestly the real test will be how much power can the engine handle stock before you have to upgrade, how well your car responses to upgrades, and how much money do you have to dump into the car to make power. That is where the difference is going to come into play.

Wow scottw03, nice Et in the SRT4. Now, I don't have any vids, but I do have witnesses to me walking a '08 Evo10 with full exhaust and blow off valve ( Those where the obvious mods ) and a SRT4 with unknown mod. For the money my cobalt has not dissepointed me, and has shocked some people. All said my car has cost me less that 20K dollars, that includes the cost of the car and my mods.

I am pretty sure we are comparing the Peon, not the caliber.

Atleast I was.

Thanks man. Aiming for 11's this year with the big turbo installed. As for vids, thats cool, I don't need to see everything to believe it. There could be so many reasons to win or lose a race, on either side. Crappy driver, traction, problems with the cars setup, etc...

If you beat the SRT-4, good for you. They aren't unbeatable cars, as much as I like to think so I looked at some of your mods in your sig and they don't look too bad. and for the price again,

Unfortunately, there are too many people buying up used SRT-4's and just slapping **** on and not putting anything thought into it. They hear that a wastegate adds like 20 whp so they put it on and crank the boost up. Meanwhile the computer is pulling timing away from them like crazy trying to save the engine. Or they don't leak test the car and have boost leaks all over the place and are losing like half their power. This can go for alot of different cars though.

Either way, good kill on the SRT-4 and Evo. The main thing is that you are happy with your car. There will always be a faster car out there but as long as you are happy, that is what is important.

BTW, I grew up in New Fairfield, CT, next to Danbury. My parents still live there so I visit every once in awhile. Not since I have been in England but soon enough I will be in N.C. so I will drive up periodically to see them. Probably be in the SUV though since it will be my wife, baby, dog and me.

I don't know anything about the Peon. I ran against one a few nights ago in my SS/TC and it really had not change. I'm not sure if it was the driver that was the problem or the car. It seemed to have no mods but I am not sure. I did not talk to him.

I assume you meant it really didn't have a chance, right?

if you are stock then it probably should have. if you are modded then there is a possibility that yeah, easily beaten.

Like I said earlier, a lot of people are just slapping crap on their car and expecting massive HP gains. But then don't realize their car is running like crap and is actually probably slower because of not setting it up properly. Especially if it is an 05, the PCM is just such a PITA. It throws codes or pulls timing for almost anything. A Staged kit is almost a must with them. Even then you need to know what you are doing with them, but they are alot easier to "tune".

My SRT felt a lot faster than the SS, although I did have a stage two kit from Mopar.
I only hope GM has some goodies for us in the future
