ss/tc shifters???

I haven't seen too much on shifters for the tc as the transmission is the same as the sc but some threads were saying that the reverse lock out is goofy on the tc. Anyone have a short throw shifter on their tc with no problems and full functioning reverse lock out???

We have a couple of customers with our new Cobalt SS/SC short shifter on the way for their SS/TC's. I can let you know once they have done the install if TWM's fits the SS/TC.

Anyone have an image of what the shifter looks like stock and aftermarket with the boot off?

Both B&M and Hurst will work fine on your car. If you are looking for a B&M unit send me a PM... we have a lot in stock so I can get you a sweet deal on one

Karo, my only beef on this whole subject is the reverse lock out not working. Once I get proof that it will still 100% work, I would love to look into one...

I see no reason why it should not work....

Want me to send you a shifter for you to try it out? If it works, pay for it, if it does not send it back?

How much for the B&M and how much for the Hurst for the 08 SS/TC, I thought the ss/tc came with short throw shifters?

Are either of these models true short throw shifters, or are they just a shorter shaft and the illusion of a shorter throw?

I want a shifter that actually moves the position of the back and forth linkage farther down which in turn will give you a truly shorter throw.

Both B&M and Hurst units have lowered the pivot point which truly gives it a shorter throw. They did not take a stock unit, remake it out of metal and just chop the shaft down... when they built the Cavalier shifter off our race car it was interesting to see how they measured everything and how much the throw was less vs stock...

The throw reduction is about 30% with Hurst & 33% with B&M. Thats what Aaron (TTR.com) posted

Hey guys,

We just got confirmation from a customer that the TWM short shifter does in fact fit the SS/TC Check out the reviews in this thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...82#post2925882

The TWM Short Shifter reduces shift knob height by 1" inch and throw by 33%, more than the other short shifters currently available.

They're still at an introductory price for the rest of the month, don't miss out! TWM Cobalt SS/SC and SS/TC Short Shifter Sale

Thanks,

Kevin

This is definately good to hear, a short throw on the ss/tc with no-lift-shifting would be pure awsomeness.

I just installed a B&M on an 05 ION REDLINE and the shifts are not as short as on my stock T/C shifter.

And I also fixed my reverse lockout, the left and right shifter cable needed to be adjusted, very simple.

I can't tell you how pleased I am with the TWM shifter now that I have had some time with it. If anyone is on the fence about it I would recommend they take the plunge. This is the best shifter out for the Cobalt. And yes, I have tried B&M and Hurst.
