Starting issue

This happens every now and then, i will go to start the car and its starts cranking i let go of the key and it keeps going. Cranks between 10 and 15 seconds then finally starts. Runs rough for a little bit but my afrs dip between 9.5 an 10.5 and idle. Drive the car for a mile or so and its fine. Any ideas would be great. Thanx-Gary

Under warranty? Take it in and complain of an extended crank.

Had this issue, threw a code (I think it was P0496 Evap High Purge Flow Fault) went to the dealer and was fixed under warranty. Just wait you will probably get a random CEL in a couple days and take it in.

Did you unplug the battery prior to this happening?
The computer seems to need to run a quick check after it's been off and it seems to crank for about 10 seconds before it starts.

The car is supposed to crank on it own after letting the key go. Its listed in the manual that it has a computer assisted start or something like that and it will only stop if the car will not start after a while. I don't have the manual in front of me so I cant be more specific.

As far as the problem goes I cant help.

This just started happening to mine. The last two fill-ups has it running rough on the first start up. Rev it a few times and it's fine. Same DTC - P0496. Anyone know if this is covered under the extended powertrain warranty? I'm at 41K already on my '08.

If not, I believe it's a cheap part and extremely easy to get to.
