strange knocking sound in front end..

I have an 08 SS, and I am hoping that MAYBE one of you guys has had this same issue. About 2 months ago, I began noticing a strange knocking sound in my front end whenever i would brake, or switch gears, it is hard to describe the sound it made, so i guess the word knock will just have to do. anyways, I took it to 2 GM dealerships (yay) for warranty work, and both of them said it was the brakes, and this was normal for a cobalt.. i am not convinced, considering it didn't always make this sound.. the sound happens when i am braking going down a hill, or sometimes changing gears.. basically it makes the sound when the weight shifts to the front.. any ideas on what this may be? i had my buddy look at it and the struts/motor mounts/trans mounts are all intact.. HELP! haha. ty for reading

Control arm bushings are worn. Very common. A recent thread had a video it was titled 2010 with bad axles in the drivetrain section. See if that's what you have

This would be the first thing I would check as well. My 2.2 did the same thing every time they were torched, the worse they get the more frequent the sound.

The guy who started that thread heard it at 14k. I put spherical replacements on at 57k and my stockers were in great shape and never made a sound. God only knows why

Yup, control are bushings. Some are hit or miss. There was an old design and a new design but there have been a few cases where the new design has failed too, but less common.

Yeah. I've had this problem twice. Once at 8000k and once at 19000k both times they replaced end links and it fixed the problem. The first time there was also a steering column issue the remedied.
I'm at 56000 now and its been solid since.
