taking my 2010 ss to the track friday
Hi i was just trying to get some input on how should launch my car at the track. should i do a burnout first and put it in launch control? there was a turbo ss last weekend running 15's he was luanching at 4500 rpm but did a burnout and boged down it was bad
You can do a QUICK spin just to clear any debris but not a burn out. I believe it actually makes street tires worse. Go around the water box. People say around 2500 is good to launch from. Use comp mode and have fun
Wow a 15 second quarter mile? You sure it was an SS/TC? He must of been a god awfull driver, a stock SS/TC with a half decent driver should be well into the 14's if not high 13's at around 100MPH.
Every run I've every done was in the 14's. My bad runs even missing 3rd gear were 14.7 to 14.9's, lol. My last time at the track was 14.02@ 103.66mph. My best trap was 14.5mph. Use the NLS from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. You can do 1st to 2nd but Im betting you'll spin.
I got all my fastest times using launch control. The 60 foot times sucked but i was consistantly 14.2-14.0, back when i was stock. It took a while for the tires to stop spinning and grip. I also had horrible wheel hop, thought the dash was gonna fall to pieces in my lap. Fixed the wheel hop with traction bars and engine mounts. When i tried lauching at like 2500 i would bog down like crazy. You can make it to the end of the quarter mile in third. No need to shift to 4th
