These SS Brakes SUCK!
As much as I like Hawk, the HPS are a step down from the stock Ferodo HP1000. GM picked the same compound as Ferrari for the 575 Maranello, Audi R8, (older) CTS-V, Masarati GrandSport, and I'm sure there are a few others.
I'm no expert but it sounds like suspension to me too. Some people think there are problems with the sway bar endlinks and control arm bushings wearing out prematurely. I had the CABs wear out on my old cavy and it would wander slightly on the highway over cracks and bumps. Maybe one side is damaged or worn out and braking causes the control arm to move around in a way it should not.
Wobbling when you hit the brakes hard is completely normal for a FWD car. If you don't brake correctly the rear of the car will get very light and wiggle. This happens if you just stomp on the brake like a big oaf. It's the difference between punching a door to open it vs giving it a push.
Hawk HPS and HP+ are not track pads. Not even close. They will roast and leave horrible deposits on the rotors. The stock Ferodo are what I consider trackable street pads. Not full track pads, but they suffice if you're going 8/10.

$900.00 bolt on. My floating rotors have lasted for 3 years and have worn 2mm.
braking is very good. So. Ya get what ya pay for. But I dont mind if I dont sell them to tell the truth, its a limited production item and thats that... the guys that track and care know what they have.

The stoock pads up front are better than Hawk HPS. The rears still suck. I upgraded to the HPS in the rear and its noticabley better. That still doesnt stop in rain the scary wet braking feel we all have at first application Im not sure will ever go away.
Thanks everyone for the help. I am waiting for my friend at the dealer to install the GMS1. I bought an extended warranty. While the car is in the shop I will have it double check everything and for the extra $300 or so, I may have him just redo all the rotors and pads. I will have him check out the suspension also. Like I said he already bled the lines and still wasnt impressed at all with the braking. He's heard nothing but good things about the brakes until he drive mine haha. I found out that the car was in a fender bender. The car was bought used on consignment (sp) not certified used from Chevy.
so did everything get fixed and yes initial wet braking is scary... my old mustang had Hawk HPS pads with slotted brembos and it didnt have that issue and i'm convinced it had more stopping power with twin 52mm pistons and a 13" rotor with narrow 245's...
I do fine in the pouring rain. Honestly, I don't even bother tapping. Just gently squeeze the brakes. If it's an emergency, squeeze them harder. Don't jump on them though. You'll probably just trigger ABS.
