Thoughts on all catbacks offered for the SS/TC
If your goal is horsepower, then no cat-back is the best cat-back, or for those who need to be quiet sometimes(or your puss ears don't like loud), an exhaust cutout is best.
He'll never run a cutout or no exhaust
to me, it should always be about bang for the buck... andto me a CatBack isnt worth the money for the minimal gains. why pay 400+ for a measely 10HP ( if you actually get all of that or not ) when instead you do stuff like tune or Downpipe since that's where the bulk of the money spent will actually yield results.
not to mention alot of those fart cans just attract attention.. sometimes unwanted ( for me that's important)
I remember some one on here saying.. if you're not making more than 400rwp, then a CatBack isnt worth it anyway.
so if you want to look good.. spend the money.. but in terms of "need" ... its a wasted effort. -- tune and downpipe takes you a very long way -- cause a clutch will be in your future soon after...and then a bigger turbo..intercooler.. ( and being broke alot )
I havent read through all the posts, so if im hitting a dead horse on this.. sorry...

I will compromise all out power for driveability, and reliability any time.
this is a contortion of the original statement;
it should read more like this:
You can have any two of the following three:
1) Cheap
2) Reliable
3) Fast
1) Cheap
2) Reliable
3) Fast
As I see it, the Cobalt (to me) started out a a compromise car;
It gets great mileage for daily driving, and is fun, and has passing power pretty much when ever I want it...
As I see it, with this car, I have all three - because, in many circles this is already a cheap car - and we all know that there are many faster cars out there ~ especially in stock, or near stock configuration.

Those who say a 3" catback isn't worth it must be the people who don't have one themselves. I have an MPx 3" with resonator and muffler and it's worth it EVEN IF IT'S JUST SOUND ALONE. The fact that it may boost power a little bit is just an extra bonus. Gives the car more character and presence even if you aren't just going for volume. Plus from an aesthetics standpoint it makes the car look better, the stock tip looks puny. I will admit though it does drone a little on the highway even though it has a muffler, so that's something to consider if that'd be a problem. That could be because it's catless though.
Just my .02.

Despite what Magnaflow might say, cat-backs don't offer significant gains on these cars. If they admit that, how could they sell 3" piping to people for $900? It's simply bad business. At least other companies, like ZZP, are honest about the modest gains and don't rape your wallet in the process.
