haha yes I agree... and I think this application can be a proven method for the Cobalts as well.. though some of the designs out there are a bit too "ricey" for my taste.. I have found one or two that seem like a good fit for functionality and not be overdressed in style.

Yep that's exactly what I was thinking. I am more partial to the cowl hoods just because I love how they look. The are not as functional as a Ram air but they look pretty.

I am going to get a hahn CAI, and also get the GMS1 tune. Which should I get first? And I keep hearing that CAI's are useless unless you tune them. Will a CAI work better with the GMS1 tune?

Yeah, I'd like an answer on this too. Sorry if it's already been asked but I don't have time to wade through 20 pages of posts to get an answer. Should I get the Air Intake and GMS1 at the same time?

Eventually, after I'm past the warranty, I'd like Terminator to come over to Bradenton and tune mine. But I'm still about 30k from that. It's a bitter irony to almost want to have more miles on your car!

You should get the GM stage 1 if you want it and then the intake once you are ready to custom tune the car.

Yeah, he's been posting up noticeably less recently.

Maybe he's on vacation... Maybe he's burnt out on CSS right now...

I got really busy at work for a while and wasn't on here for like a month recently. I'd skim some of the interesting stuff when I could, but wouldn't sign in or post up until I had more time. Another possibility there.

Next is the K&N SRI I have done 5 cars now with the K&N SRI and all have needed anywhere from +5% to +10% changes to many areas of the MAF tables. The K&N SRI gives good drivability untuned compared to the other SRIs because it has cleaner airfow over the MAF due the way K&N designed the shape of the filter so changing this filter for a different type will most likely lead to a large decrease in drivability.
.
How can you tell if the K&N intake is the updated version? Is there a new part #?

There are a ton of threads about this....but to save you the searching time, the general consensus is to have the filter rotated to the 12:30 position (relative to the metal crimp on the filter). So the metal crimp should be facing upward (towards your hood) and the K&N logo on the top of the filter will be upside down. CudaJoe did some data logging and found this rotation resulted in the STFT & LTFT being skewed the least.

K&N intake will run the best without a tune. Also SRIs sound so much meaner than CAIs because the filter is right next to the firewall.
