Throttle Sticking

New problem.... I revved my car while sitting in my driveway last night and the I let off at about 4,000 rpm. The car rev all the way to 6,000 rpm and stuck there for about 2 or 3 seconds. It scared the **** out of me so I now need a new driver seat. I'm not sure what could have caused it. Is this common with a turbo? The only turbo vehicle I have owned has been a Silverado with a Duramax Diesel.

My $0.02....Sounds like the throttle follower table in the PCM might be a little too aggressive in some spots. The throttle wasn't sticking - the PCM was overcompensating in some points. Mine has done this once or twice as well.

Yes if you buz one up and let off it will spool up quite a bit more after you drop off the throttle until the manifold pressure downstream of the throttle falls. Its normal.

If your foot is off the gas and the throttle blade is closed, the air from that post-rev turbo spool should be diverted out the blow-off valve, right? So, essentially the throttle blade isn't closed enough. This is becuase of the ETC or drive-by-wire throttle body. Since this setup doesn't require an IAC valve, idle control is done through the throttle body blade motor, right? If the settings in the PCM are too aggressive, more air is getting past the blade and holding the RPMs higher than they should be - which would explain the problems the OP and myself have noticed.

To some extent the cam phasers flopping back to idle state also effect it more than you would think to. They contribute to some run on also while their exhausting the oil in the phaser and changing the intake overlap.
