I have a 2008 SS/TC and recently it has developed a "ticking" sound under boost (mainly over 10 psi.) I have a warranty and want to get it fixed but the mechanic says there are a few different things it could be. He said it could be in the turbo itself (turbo bearing) or an engine issue (possibly a lifter or something.) He doesn't want to go tearing it apart and replace parts that do not need fixed, so I was curious if anyone has had this issue and if so what it was. Thanks in advance for any input/advice.

As for more information, miles on car, any mods, any tune besides stock (this includes if you have GM Stg1). Also a ticking sound isnt specific, try to get a video with semi quality audio

It might be the waste gate making noise, they have been known to make ticking slight ticking sounds under boost.

It shouldn't tick under boost.... Probably the dumbest thing I've heard.

could be pinging possibly. Or your turbo could have shaft play. Hard to say without hearing it.

 

If noise is really loud and coming from the drivers side, its probably the Injector seals.
