well iv always said the conti extreme contact dw are awesome times. I just got a new pair for front, and I have to say, these tires are fricken awesome. they hold from a roll starting at 60kmh in second gear with the zfr on 23 psi. I couldn't believe it. not a spin. everyone buy them, buy them now lol.

 

I have them in the back with some Dunlop star specs up front and I spin occasionally. I think they aren't spinning much because maybe you have a pretty conservative tune, good driver mod :P, and the tires are still new so of course they should have good grip. LOL But all in all, I completely agree. They are great tires and I will replace them with the same ones when the time comes.

 

Has anyone tried the nt01 ? I keep hearing great things about them

Are the nt01 like drag radials or no?

 

nt01s are a dot approved track tire. not just for straight lines

 

But will they perform as well as the standard drag radials in a straight line? JW....

 

NT-01's are an R-compound tire so they use a very sticky rubber. Once they are warmed up a little bit they grip so hard it's amazing. First time they don't feel too special but once there's heat in them you notice the grip. Difference from a drag radial is that they have a stiff sidewall and are awesome for handling. Downside is that they are not safe for rain and you really can't daily drive them because of this. I got stuck in the rain with them on the front of my Cobalt and it was downright scary, sliding around at 40mph...

I like the OEM tires that came on my car (Pirelli PZero Rosso). Perfect balance of grip and ride comfort. I got 20k out of my last set.

 

I see... so the nt01's are the bridge between performance street tires and track tires huh? Sounds pretty awesome but I think they will probably still be pretty dicey in the rain. I'm thinking about just getting an extra set of rims up front and slapping on actual drag radials to go racing and then when I'm driving around to work, etc. I'll just switch back to my Dunlop star specs. No need for actual slicks unless I'm heading out to the track. BTW, are there any slicks that will fit our size and clear the Brembo's?

For good all-round, i'd suggest a Bridgestone S-04. For a dedicated summer tire i'd go with the RE-11, I have a set on my Z and they are flat out amazing. Still fine in the rain, stick like glue in the dry. The S-04s I have on the Sonic because it isn't a racecar but I still wanna fling it around, and they work great for that.

Hell I have some RE760 Potenzas on my Tercel that will outperform the OEM pirelli garbage.

 

The bridgestones are heavy. Pirelli redesigned the tire recently as well. $169 ea. installed they are a good tire for my driving style.

 

I used to run Potenza RE-11s when I worked at firestone I got the 225/40/18s for 80$ a piece lol employee pricing. I would cut 2.0, almost 1.9 60's on street tires and 18s lol. They wear out quick as **** though

 

Yeah you probably drive a lot more relaxed than I do. I wore out my OEM tires in 11k miles, and they were hard as a rock for the last 5K miles of that. On a basically stock LSJ too If you regularly beat on them they tend to get hard and start chunking off, i'm not the only person who has seen that. I imagine if you drive more relaxed they are ok. Pirelli in general has overpriced tires for what you get. If I wanted to spend top dollar I would get some of the Michelin offerings, they are lighter than anything else and do work, they just are very expensive.
