you cant really say "the max speed is X with this tune"... it's more of your gearing that determines your maximum speed. the tune and your mods just determine how quickly you get there.

Well without wind resistance a Cobalt SS/TC will do well over 200 mph. Now it does take more HP to get to higher numbers.

without wind resistance? that's unrealistic, therefore i would never take those numbers into consideration.

I wouldn't believe your speedo. Many are not totally accurate at speeds like that.

I believe the OP wants to know the speed limiter setting in the Trifecta tune. I'm curious if Vince raised it. I never asked.

Without wind resistance maybe, but very few go that fast in the real world. Theoretical top speeds dont mean anything. IDK if the speed limiter is raised ask Vince at trifecta he is the one writing the tunes.

Actually, 6k in 5th gear is 167 mph but on stock LNFs the power drops off above 5800 or so and then there is the 155 mph speed limiter that kicks in around 5600.

Maybe your speed limiter is raised because stock it does 155 mph. But because the speedmeter lags behind 5-7 mph it may not kick in right at 155. IDK. I dont think it is safe to go that fast on public roads. I have never been over 120 in my car and that was on a desolate country road with no one around.

I could care less about a top speed. If it cant trap it then i care nothing about topping a car out.

i know its against the law and all... but you can of need top speed when your racing someone from a 40 roll and he is right next to you... i raced an srt-4 from a 40 and we went all the way up to 160 and after that he flew past me.... he was doind about 170+ when he flew past me....

This was going to be my input too. That's why you bring a WAAS-enabled GPS along whenever doing high-speed testing

**on a closed road, of course**

Listen. The stock settings are 155mph. Do I need to post a screen shot of the stock tune for you? You're spedometer is not going to be 100% accurate.

For instance, the tach. At 7k rpm, it lags by about 200rpm. I have scanned many many ss's that have "hit" the 7k rpm point and HPTuners has scanned showing about 7.2k.

Ask Vince for your "new limiter".

They go only 155 stock and 160 if they rev to 6500. Unless he was overreving a heavily modded SRT4 they dont usually go that fast.

Theoretically, but drag will almost certainly limit you to approx 170.

I'm with you. Anything after that just gets silly on public roads.

I get a kick out of it when they advertise 200mph top speeds for cars....great, but other then only a handful of tracks in the world, where in the hell are you going to do that without being suicidal?

I never allow myself to max it out in any gear past 4th gear...(about 120mph)....even then it has got to be a seriously empty road and only for brief moments.

Agreed. Our cars are not the most aerodynamic things on the road. The spoiler is just awful for aerodynamics, but even removed aerodynamic drag goes up exponentially when you start to get to those speeds.

Here's a good example of why not to trust your speedo at high speed. I saw a top speed run of the "Might McLaren F1". The speedo in the car indicated high 250's while the speed equipment at the side of the track said 240. So it was off nearly 20. I know it's higher speed, etc... I'm just making a point that they are NOT accurate.

You did not go 162mph stock, if you did your speedo is 7mph fast

Honestly I feel like this car has more drag than my GTO did at above 100 mph and the GTO was a much larger car area wise I dont think our cars are that slippery. Anyone know the drag coefficient and frontal area of our cars?
