TreadStone TR8 IC comparison to Stock.

SO. My TR8 just arrived at my parents place and Im going to go pick it up now.

Here is my Stock IC IAT and K&N SRI intake data that im using as the baseline. This a new baseline compared to the one I posted in the groupbuy thread.

I included highway driving and city driving this time. I will get the TR8 installed and check and see if there is any IAT differences and compare them on the graph. On saturday, the car will be tuned with the IC. I will post the dyno graph. THEN I will reinstall the factory IC and see if there is a difference.

data points 1 to 4 are idling from start

data point 5 to 10 is city driving

data point 11 to 17 is highway + wot

data point 17 to 23 is parked idle after a 30 min drive

data point 24 to 36 is car shut off.

UPDATE

Here is the data showing The TR8's IATs vs the stock IC's IATs. The day was a warmer day, 55*F ambient....well felt alot warmer than the previous testing day.. The car is tuned and making 20psi. Those are the two big differences here. cruising the TR8's is what I would call equivalent to factory cooling, which is a good thing. Under boost at 20psi is does just as good of a job as the stock IC at 15psi.

So I now have the IC and I will post up my pics

I open the box and this is whats in it. Styrofoam Peanuts!

Under the peanuts is a license plate frame holder and some stickers and a box

Nice to find they had foam bars on either side of the ic to protect the fins

Elbows are texture powder coated just like the ZZP charge pipe, they will match perfectly

This IS everything that was in the box

Heres a close up of the bracket. Its pretty light and im sure made of aluminum. Its held in by only one bolt here. Feels pretty sturdy once I screwed the bolt in part of the way.

Sooo. Im assuming Treadstone forgot to pack the T-bolt clamps. Hopefully they didnt do that to anyone else

I wanted to get this on right away and get some temps taken.

I will say I wish they did one thing, and that is make sure the elbows have a lip at both ends for the clamps to hold on too. BUT, for the price of the whole kitten Kaboodle, I can't complain in anyway. Its looks like a great quality piece and I cant wait to test it out.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to get mine. I hope the tbolts hold on to the elbows under boost without them having the lip on there.

I honestly feel that this will cool the charged air flow better than stock now that Im seeing it in person. The bars are wide and provide more surface area for the fins to exchange heat with the outside temp.

Called Treadstone just now, sent an e-mail last night, sent a PM last night so he's bound to get my message I want him to ship out the clamps asap! overnight would be great too!

We actually flared the pipes slightly before we sent them out on all the kits monday. We just used vice grips to flare the pipes in 5 spots around the pipe. This will guarantee that you have no blow outs. In the future when we get our next batch of pipes, the pipes will come with a bead roll lip.

Hey Jason can you overnight the T-bolt clamps to me? I need to get this installed before saturday. If not, I will go buy some from somewhere and you can refund the cost.

I want to finish my review.

Hopefully I will have these clamps early tomorrow so when I come home from work early I shall get started right away

Im pretty sure I should see a change in temp in highway cruising + 3rd gear pull, definately city driving with all the stopping and going,
(disclaimer: city driving temps are taken at speeds between 30mph-40mph at close to 2500rpms. Temps are not recorded at redlights, they are recorded during driving and when the temps settle from fluctuation.), and I think I will see a temp difference even sitting at idle, Jason believes I wont but if it shows a temp change from ambient there than most certainly this IC has better cooling abilites than factory.

Ugh man heatsoak in city driving blow dogs for quarters... You will see a decrease in iats all around. you are doing a much better job of keeping track than me so far. I was too excited to get the stocker off and the new one on. I never took tables of temps on the stocker. You little temperature accountant you.

Well thats the second one I did for the stocker... the previous one was in colder weather and the intial temp differences were in the negative so I know it was too cold to get accurate data but I see the same driving temp differences and after the drive, idle differences.

Yea the tr8 will show a little better iats, it did on mine. But where it really shows better iats is during multiple pulls.

Edit: I just checked my logs from 3 dyno pulls I did in January. With an ambient of about 70 the car held at a max of 75 for all the pulls... that is sitting in front of a fan too. Not even on the open road.
