^^^Has any of that stuff failed BECAUSE you had a GMS1? Had you gone with an aftermarket tune, and just reflashed the stock tune before you went in for warranty work, you don't think they would've covered it? If your dealer wasn't cool, they wouldn't have replaced any of it (or at least try very hard to not do it)...

Quick question, what was wrong with your transmission? As far as I understand, clutch replacement is not covered under warranty (i.e. wear item) IIRC... The actual transmission assembly failed?

My intercooler got clipped, fixed by dealer (car bottomed out slightly by previous owner's wife) and the right brake caliper assembly ceased up and also got replaced. Right now it's in for sunroof motor/sensor issue (buzzing after the roof is fully closed like it keeps trying to close it) and they're chasing a random misfire on cylinders 1, 3, and 4 at WOT (possibly during NLS), but as far as I'm concerned it happened "as I was getting onto the highway to catch up to the speed of traffic", standard answer 'cause anything else could be interpreted as abuse by a picky dealer.

Only mod was a catless Downpipe I put on for 1 summer - Probably for 5 months, sold it becuase of the smell.

Other than that one part breifly on the car it has been %100 stock, no funny business otherwise.

P0420.. Misfire codes, those are normal for messy NLS - that's normal!

My 2nd gear syncro was gone, there was another TC in for service for his reverse gear, similar issue.

The dealership wasn't able to repair either... Or wasn't willing to spend the labor more than likely (they are a huge money making operation) so they just gave me a new tranny, I went under the car and compared serial numbers, and looked to see if it was obviously a bran new tranny, and it was!

I don't believe the clutch is covered that is correct. I broke 4 of those shift linkage roll pins before the new tranny, so something may have been a bit off with that tranny since day one. No issues yet!

The numbers will be the same as the normal tune that vince offers with the same bolt-ons, so I would look on here to see if someone has a dyno chart and the zzp tune is a canned tune and can't be updated last I knew and I don't know how they're tune runs number wise. Vince's tune can be updated with an additional payment.

Not if you get it through BNR... according to what they say on their site, minor adjustments (i.e. exhaust, intake, etc.) are free. Major ones (i.e. turbo swap) are $100...

This is inaccurate, vince is very liberal with charging for updates, but they are not garunteed to be free on his site or any other that im aware of. On his forum there is a thread about it and i have asked him as well.

That's the route I took. I bought the ZZP ECU tune so I can have an extra ECU to swap out for warranty work.

You can visit my YouTube page and see my dyno numbers for my ZZP canned tune. I was at like 260whp and 370ft lbs. with ZZP ECU the only problem I found with ZZPs canned is the boost will drop to 15-16 psi by like 4500-5000 RPMs and that's to keep the engine safe. So basically you're tuned at lower RPMs and by the time you hit redline you're stock lol.

As for Trifecta I have no budget tune experience but when I had my custom tune by trifecta it was great. My graphs were very linear and smooth. Had a good experience with Trifecta. Didn't have the best experience with CCSS3 which is a HPTuner but Terminator2 which is also an HPTuner is great!

Moral of my story is getting tuned is a risk on many levels. Just because the guy next to you is in love with their tuner doesn't mean you will feel the same.

I don't see myself getting tuned unless I do it myself lol. It seems the psi I run with gms1 is greater than most people's custom tunes, and so are my trap speeds. So the whole idea of tuning really scares me. I'd have to be on a dyno and see my before and after to believe it was done right lol

I had my 2nd gears synchro go too. Dealer replaced with brand new tranny instead of taking it apart to fix, no hassle. Worst part was i paid $120 for fluid change of tranny within 5k of it happening.

I paid $400ish for a new clutch while the tranny was out, even though my current was still holding well with GMS1. To save the 10 hours labour for a clutch job down the road.

2010 SS/TC installed GMS1 @ 12k. Sitting @110k currently. Warranty used so far...
1. Leaky passenger headlight.
2. Wheel Bearing.
3. Boost issues. Limp mode. Found out GMS1 wiring causeing interference (gm reason given)
4. Tranny synchro.

Problems not under warranty...
1.Torn gear shifter rubber. Was getting stiff/freezing in cold weather. $200 fix.

All in all not too shabby since i didn't pay for the tranny. If I didn't pay for the extended warranty i would not be talking so happily. Still love the GMS1.

I'm in too deep now. For me to switch out ECUs to get warranty work will be a absolute hassle. So I'd probably just pay for the work myself. However since I'm K04+ there's a good chance they wouldn't even notice a difference.

So, I just installed my budget tune. I only drove about 1 - 2 miles so far since its so late, just to make sure it ran good and all that. So far, it is amazing. Definitely what I was looking for.

After i'm driving it some, I'll add some more input, since it doesn't seem like a lot of people have this.

as to what vahdyx said, about risks.. thats why i went with trifecta. im sure people do amazing and have absolutely no problems on hptuners, but from what i hear/read trifecta is a lot safer.

maybe Vince does. But Jerry at BNR might have a different arrangement with him since he's a distributor... This is straight from their site:

Yes i know what the prices are as we are no different with both of us being dealers. I have personally talked with vince and steven, both told me the same thing, now could jerry at bnr have a deal with vince that very well could be, could things have changed since i last have spoke with them of course they could have. I will ask again for verification though. Congrats on the tune.

Wow you have 100whp more than that now and you are still on 91 octane.

Another forum I'm on member says its 20 psi now,I don't know if that's just a automatic trans or what, but I have a auto cause I'm old.
I got the tune last night and got cable couple days ago,try loading tune today and it says can't find my car so basically its not recognizing it,did it 13x noithing waiting on response from them now, kinda well I am disappointed.ive been running a tuner on my other car for about 4 years so I know what I'm hooking up and I know to turn key to on.
Reading last post has given me a spark of hope.

Might be time for a new clutch. Mine did that a little bit, but GMPP clutch from CED fixed that.
