i love the sounds other turbo cars make when they idle, subies, evos (hyundai genesis, evo motor), srt4s, supras, nissans, 240, 300, etc... the list goes on...

i love the way it sounds, just a whistle. sounds soo good. im wondering how i can get this sound?
complete turbo back, no res, no muffler, no cats, no nothing, just a complete straight pipe. will it make the sound im looking for???

probably yes, just straight pipe all the way back, i know when i had my Jannetty Racing 3" side exit and i was catless it whistled pretty good

 

side exit is the only way ive heard it on a lnf

 

My car sounds just like that and its called straight pipe or cutout.

i have heard other completely straight piped SS TCs, and none of them make the sound im looking for


there just loud.....

 

It won't be as loud at idle but once you touch the throttle it will whistle.

 

my car has a straight pipe out the back and you can clearly hear the turbo "whistle" under light throttle. my srt4 also is straight piped out the back and for some reason has a louder turbo "whistle"

My car whistles and all it has is GMS1 and a K&N intake on it.

 

They always do and it makes almost no sense when they have a smaller turbo than the cobalts, I just think the SRT4s have a lil bit of Cummins in em, Haha!


To the OP, only way you're going to hear it good is if you straight pipe with a larger turbo, idk what it is, but something about our turbo design doesn't allow it to give off that same whistle. I even went open downpipe when I installed my downpipe and you could just barely hear it on the stock turbo so I bolted my catback back on. Maybe one of the mitsubishi turbos will give off more of the sound you are looking for?

I think the design of the O2 housing kills the spool down noise

 

My 60 trim on my old swapped lsj whistled like a ******* jet engine.

 

man u should have heard my talon when it was open turbo before i installed the downpipe. lol turbo was louder when u let off the exhaust then when u got on it. lol sounded like a semi

 

Mine whistles at idle and light throttle when my cutout is open. It's located directly on my downpipe though

Ill echo the open downpipe comments. My turbo spec v did that before i put the custom exhaust on it.

anyways! i was up at turbo xs they have a couple new exhausts to release soon... not sure if i can release it for them or not... but anyways... i tried one out with a res.. but no muffler... and it sounded just like the srt4 in the OP!

i kid you not that turbo was insanely loud! the second i turned it on i could hear it....

now i have 2 resonators. but still no muffler. exhaust is not quite as loud. a lil deeper.. and you can still hear the turbo whistle... but just barely....


but just saying... with one of the new turbo xs exhausts out for the LNF... i heard that turbo downspool sooo nice

 

i need a resonator at least. my exhaust is louder with the BNR. lol. and its obnoxious loud

 

maybe you guys can help. what kind of exhaust do i need to get that like, diesel sound? i'm guessing this car is turbo'd or putting down some crazy kind of power to drive around on drag radials.

haha actually i pulled into my friends dealership... and all the techs and mechanics said my car sounds like a diesel.. on idle the turbo would whistle.. lmao.. it was just an awesome sound... someone said it sounded like hit 6.0 powerstroke.
