Turbosmart BOV Problem

So I just installed my Treadstone S3 kit with a Turbosmart RacePort BOV. Everything went on fine and I followed RyRidezMotox's walk through.

When I started the car, everything seemed fine. Idle was good etc. When I revved the engine to see of the BOV was working, all I got was flutter. The BOV isn't opening at all.

Now my question is, how are the vac lines supposed to be run? I ran the line from the stock BPV to the BOV and I "T'd" the vac line from the old lower charge pipe with the other vac line on the manifold.

Anyone have any ideas what I may have done wrong?

Ive heard of people running the bov straight to the vac port on top of the manifold. Then loop the top port of the bpv solenoid to the port on the left side(this would bypass the vac tank)

Pics? Can't picture the parts you're referring to.

you have too stiff a spring in it, I also have the turbosmart race port and it comes stock with i think 18in hg setting. IE rarely open on a cobalt. I had to order the spring kit and am running at the 12in hg setting, still occassion get quick flutter the pooossshhh, but rarely so im not goin lighter

Ok, I have the line from the stock BPV running to the new BOV.

So the line on the left of the solenoid on the manifold goes directly to the new BOV. line from the top of the solenoid is now t'd into the direct manifold line in the middle of the manifold and the line on the bottom of the solenoid is left untouched.

Is this right?

Connect the bov directly to the manifold, bypass the solenoid and block one of the lines that goes from the solenoid to the ic pipe like i mentioned here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/5744524-post6.html

If i do it that way, I am going to have 2 open ports on the solenoid. Do I just block them both off? My cold pipe does have the vacuum port by the MAP, so it is basically blocked off the same as yours. what did you do with the line that used to run to that location?

T into the vacuum port on on the intake itself. Get rid of the vacuum tank and the other line will go to the bottom part of the solonoid on the intake.

Vacuum tank? I need pics!!!! Lol

This is what mine looks like right now. Left port goes to the BOV. Top port is T'd into the Manifold line and the bottom one is left alone.

If I T into the manifold line for the BOV. What do I do with the 2 ports on the solenoid?

In this picture, do you just have the Top port and the Left port on the solenoid looped together?

I'm not too anxious to go outside and just start switching lines around without knowing for sure how they are supposed to go, haha. I don't want to eff something up.

That picture is blocking those 2 lines, so I can't see if it is just one line looped from one port to the other.

Here's another question. I just took the BOV off and I can't even push it open with my hands.... Should I be able to do this?

I find it hard to believe that the air pressure in the charge pipe is greater than what I can apply with my hands....

That line was connected to the solenoid and its disconnected now.

Don't worry about the loop, i just did it to cover up the ports until i got some vacuum caps. All 3 ports from the solenoid are disconnected for their sources(bov/manifold/ic pipe).

So disconnect everything from the Solenoid and block off the lines?

I just got the BOV working by connecting it directly to the manifold. It opens under boost, but I am still getting flutter when not under hard boost. Like when I shift at say 3000rpm it flutters.

Isn't there somewhat of an adjustment on those, thought there was. If not prob have to change springs.

you do have the RacePort BOV from Treadstone right? Im telling you the spring is to stiff. I had this problem too. These DBW throttle bodies dont close quick enough, so we dont create vacuum quick enough to open the heavier springs without flutter

Do you have the same one?

Where and what spring did you get? The spring being too stiff does make sense.
