Valve springs for LNF

i wanted to get aftermarket valve springs and retainers when i rebuild my lnf because i dropped a valve. i initially was just going to get the ZZP 78 pounders with their retainers but i found Supertech springs in 76, 78, or 94 pounders for 8.82 each so 8.82*16=$141.12 with free shipping, ZZP charges 199.99 for just the springs plus shipping

can i mix and match these Supertech springs with ZZP retainers? and how stiff should i go with my setup @ 25-30 psi?

You can not mix and match. The supertech's have to have the supertech retainers because they have dual springs. and the retainers are cut to fit the inner spring. Also I had to grind the head in order to fit the supertech 78 pounders. Just go with the zzp springs and be done.

alright, would it make more sense to get 94# because of the extra push from boost? or would that just cause problems? why did zzp use supertech springs on their 898whp build rather than their own?

I sort of doubt you will ever push the engine to the point of ever needing that heavy of a spring rate. A 78# spring should seriously do you just fine. A 94# spring seems like quite a bit of overkill and alot of un-needed stress on the stock valvetrain.

The more spring pressure, the higher the cam/follower wear. 78# ZZP's are the way to go unless you are building an 8k rpm motor, then go with the 96# ones. Personally, I think grinding the head for the Supertech springs to clear is a PITA.

Since I'm planning to get the zzp head/cam combo, and I want to put the supertech inconel valves, is it better to get the supertech 94# springs?

If you want the racketiest lnf in the world go ahead with the 94's. You need to switch over to solid lifters and upgrade the rollers so they dont break. Or else the hydrolic lifters wont have enough oil pressure to stay up.

So you are saying that 94# is too much?

Yep. ZZPs 82's will be great. 78's are just fine.

Thinking to combine them with the Supertech inconel valves instead of using the stock valves tho.

As long as the valve is identical to oem it should be fine. I personally wouldnt change the valves.
