Vented bpv, does it require you to relocate your maf?
A vented bpv is pretty much a bov that fits in the oem location correct? I currently have a forged bpv and someone told me I could install a vented forged bpv and re-tune my car, but don't need to relocate my maf. Which doesn't make sense to me since vented is pretty much the same thing as a bov which requires you to relocate the maf. Unless I'm just confused. Please clarify if you can. Does it require you to relocate your maf? And does it make tuning the car a pita?
I know it's only for sound but is it true I don't have to relocate the maf with the vented bpv? He said I didn't but to me if you didn't relocate the maf the car can't account for the lost air and will run rich when the bpv opens
U don't have to relocate if u have trifecta ecp tune. I'm in the processes of being tuned for my bov and it's a pain in the ass. I'm thinking it's not the bov though, I got Opel injectors and my fuel trims are way off. And my stft are to high at idle, so I'm thinking maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. Other than that ecp tune works great with bov
I've been running a Forge VTA BPV for over a year with no issues. I am HP tuned without MAF relocate btw. the only thing my car does is when I shift it goes rich for a split second, like 12:1 ish afr.
Dont listen to the BOV haters on this forum. Do what you want with your car

They cause issues and it was just said that you get a rich spike in between shifts...... Do it right or don't bother doing it at all. Tuning around without a mad relocation is just bs. You don't solve anything, you just hide an underlying issue. The car still vents metered air. Trifecta esp or not your not solving anything.
I ran an atmospheric bpv and I ended up removing it. Sounded cool but not worth rich spikes etc etc. Your better off putting a bov with maf relocate as a tial is superior to the forge and will not cost much more to do if you plan to do a maf relocate. An intake and normal forge valve can be heard pretty good

i was looking into a BOV/BPV but theres alot of work with having to relocate MAF no matter which you go with i believe, along with having to re-route becuase of needing a block off plate for the OEM bpv. in all honesty, theyre prob not worth it, unless you want a cool sound (only reason im considering one
). intakes make a blow off sound and allow for the spooling to be heard louder. I just got an injen cai, and im installing it this week sometime. it should give a similar, but muffled sound as an upgraded BPV. or so ive heard lol
only reason I got bov is cause the bpv on the zfr, stock and forge sound like crap. but it seems so does the bov, u still get flutter either way u go. if u put in a stiff enough spring to keep bov closed at idle u get lots of flutter at anything less then wot shifts. it just doesn't open fast enough. car doesn't pull vacuum fast enough it seems when u get off the gas. it looks good and does sound good, but even with ecp tune, still have issues. Now I gotta decide if im going back to just using bpv or get a maf relocate lower cp and do it right.
