Warranty with intake....

I know there has a lot of different opinions on whether or not an intake (SRI or CAI) will void your warranty or not. Ive heard some say yes, some say no, and some say it depends on the dealer.

So what is the finally word? Does anybody know for sure? Any GM techs out there that can weigh in? Im just curious, because I have to go in for the intake camshaft sensor leaking oil again, and Im thinking about taking my Dejon SRI off and going back to stock just to be safe.

Plus, Im thinking if I want to end up doing the GM Stage 1 I dont want the SRI on when I get it....Id probably get the intake they designed....

But anyways, what do you guys think.... take it off or leave it on?

Thanks

Based on all the **** stories,i would take it off, since you know they gonna pop the hood for it.You and i both know it is in no way related to the issue, but they could make note of it for any other future problems if any..

I had my head rebuilt after 3 exhaust side lifters shattered in my 2.4LE5 after an over-rev, all under warranty and the car was fully bolted at the time (K&N SRI, CA header, GMPP cat-back). The dealer never said a word about the mods...the service manager even said the exhaust sounded good, heh.

Then again, this was over a year ago...and before GM's meltdown, haha. I'd take it off just so they don't have a reason to try and void anything.

An intake doesnt void your warranty. Having your ECM/TCM read and finding non-GM software could get your powertrain warranty voided.

But going in w/ a different intake isnt going have your powertrain warranty voided.

The only time an intake would void you're warranty is if it caused the problem. Just last week we had an impala SS with an intake that rubbed through the LAN lines. Things like that will void you're warranty.

Only on said failed part caused my the intake. They cannot void your powertrain warranty for an intake.

I wouldn't think going in for an unrelated issue would cause a problem; however like some people have said service dept's apparently differ. My local service mgr seems pretty cool but last time I was in we were discussing performance cars and I casually mentioned my K&N drop-in. He did NOT want to hear about it and suggested the conversation had never taken place, lol.

yea only things caused by the intake can be voided o and i think they can void the warranty on your maf sensor because you could **** it up in the process of switching it out

Depends on dealer, bottom line.
My dealer doesn't mind though.
