I believe you about the disparity between the GPS and the speedometer. I know for a fact that mine runs a little slow because when I calculated the top speed in third gear it is 102 at 6300 RPM and I see only 98 mph on my speedometer at 6300.

The car has a limiter at 155 mph stock. I know that for a fact. Anyone with HP tuners that wants to post up proof?

Thanks steddy. Please do so there is no more debateing the issue. I love hearing people with stock cars that I know are limited to a certain speed say " I went 180 mph in my stock GTO" even though the car is limited to 158 MPH from the factory.

Hmmmm...very interesting reading....No questions asked and all

But again this isnt the original question asked. Top speed is debated, some have it rated as low as 140 mph.

true that

i'd be scared to drive that little thing past 130 prolly. but who knows... i think i'm going to get the high wing just because all the cobalts i see have the low wing. .. and i'm not tryin to be like everyone else. be like bitch mine romps. urs sucks lol. wanna race me!!! lol... i wanna get the ss taken off the sides and the turbo taken off the back so i can race some bitches that think there **** is fast and woop them in a cobalt LMAO! ultimate defeat!, little do they know. it will have 320whp. hopefully better i'm think i'm going to be putting all hahn's equip on it and getting it dyno tuned instead of that ppc thing... and i think having the rev at 7k will make it easier to shift instead of bumbing the limiter at 6.3k.. once it get's to 4 you gotta start shifting lol cuz it'll hit that limit quick! and i want my psi put up at like 21

I probally did more research before buying my 09 than most people do in a lifetime, even work at a dealer and everything I have ever seen on this car says there is no limiter, everything says it is drag limited not speed limited, so please show me this

well someone that have an SS'TC take it on the interstate and max it out. lol... i'm pretty sure i'll never go close to 155 in a chevy... i'd be scared the doors would fly off. lol... most cars on the road that aren't limited will top out at 130 or lower and take a minute or so to get to it. this car will still be faster. lol

SRT8s are slow from a roll I can beat one as long as I can actually get traction.

There is no way they got a stock TC to go above 155 mph. The ECM has a speed limiter programmed into it. They were just vomiting up the misinformation Gm gave them about the car having a top speed of over 160mph.

what about tuned with the cut off removed? anyone been brave enough to find out the REAL top speed... my old GTP grand prix cut off at 128mph stock, with the limiter set to 999mph(lol) it'd bury the speedo, it registered 140 and the needle would bury why you were still pulling, similar to what a LS1 f-body does at 155+

I don't really care anymore, I don't see myself ever getting past my old personal best....ever.

Theres a significant amount of front end lift above 130, thats not any better in the LNF, the front downforce on these cars SUCKS

well im sure it doesnt compare to the 80s monte carlos, and if you think about it for a $25,000 with a limited speed of 155 im happy. Mercedes limits most of there cars to 155 besides the SLR and blacks and there 10 times more then ours. The only difference they could do it all day and i don't know how long i would trust driving at the limit in our cars.
