Yes you could use google, but then what would be the point in joining a forum to ask for help with our cars.

Tomj77, I'll give you the non-smart ass answer!

Use Castro syntrans GL4, which I believe is oem.

It was a suggestion since I no longer own a Cobalt.

Yeah, you can get our trans fluid at the dealer. Its expensive ($25 a quart) but rarely needs changed, if ever.

get it off CED ( thats crate engine depot) just ordered mine and did the fluid change last weekend. Shifting feels sooo nice now. I believe with shipping it was like 40 bucks or so. maybe 45.

Get the fluid from the dealer or CED. The LNF F35 fluid is the best out there for these cars, both LSJ and LNF

tomj77,

For the 2.0L L4 Engine, the recommended manual transmission fluid is GM Part No. in 88862473 (Canada).

Hope this is helpful! Looks as though you've already been getting some great feedback.

88862473 or 88862472 like ced has? They don't have the 473

It's exactly the same thing as 88862472, but the dealers in Canada will most likely have the 88862473. I don't know why it's a different part number for Canada but it comes up as exactly the same fluid information from BLU Synthetic

It's not supposed to be changed often, but after 35k miles my shifting was notchy. I changed the fluid (paid for OEM at the dealer) and it went back to the way it was when new.
