Who if anyone has done a E85 tune?

Ok my brother has a funco sandrail and he normally runs C12 or 112 octane in his rail, but he said he is getting it tuned for E85 and it should even make more power and the cost of the fuel is like 1/3. I know a few people have done it on here with their LNF but I want to know how dramatic of a change is it and what type of tune they ran and do you have to use E85 all the time or how does that work? Thanks

Once tuned for it, you have to run it. It requires ~30% more fuel. Some have fuel pressure issues getting that much to flow into an LNF. Nick has done it. (Backyard Turbo) I can't get enough fuel in there to make the same numbers so I went back to a 60% ethanol blend. Not worth sacrificing power to go full E85 here.

I think just about every tuner out there has at least experimented with E85. I started late last summer/fall and had some pretty serious success with ~25% ethanol. It wakes the car up like something fierce.

Did you tune it for 25% ethanol or did you just try it with your current tune

i have the e47 (50/50 mix of e85 and 93)...had it for a few weeks and so far it is awesome. I can tell a difference between this and my regular 23psi Trifecta...........My fuel mileage really hasn't changed either

Is it tuned for the 50/50 mix?

I know Vince from Trifecta is selling the E85 Tune which I purchased I have to install it yet because I am fine tuning my Trifecta Stealth Tune on 91 Octane first.

Yes, I should have mentioned Trifecta early on. I worked with Vince for a while trying to perfect it for full E85.

Mine's faster on the blend is all.

You could splash in about 20-25% for knock without a tune but the LTFT's will shift positive on you. Depending on where they sit now, you may or may not pop a CEL.

I had Full E85 working on my car and Drewbroo's car just fine, I even got over 25psi on my car with enough fuel. I went back to a Blend now finally and I think the car is faster personally.

I could also if I ramped it up easy, I missed the torque though. Mine is faster on the blend. Meth soon.

You have a stronger HPFP than I. (or I flow more air than you)

Or I found the ways to make it work properly.. crazy thought lol..

I do have it working on 2 separate cars, so we can rule out my pump

i have a e85 tune.

I love it. I would never go back personally.

I run e47. I bought a large quantity of e85 through a vendor and i measure it out and split it up. 10L of e85 and 10L of e10 94 octane. I mix a few jugs here and there, and I try to keep the measurements perfect.

I was in a hurry the other day and did a shitty job mixing the fuel, I think I put in more e than usual, i think my trims went off for a bit and I got a tad of KR 2.1 during a pull and shut it down. Other than that, there has been no problems.

I have my aeroforces to blink at me for KR, rail pressure issues, and a lean AF ratio, but have had no problems with the last two.

Car is running great, no issues with low fuel, nothing.

Car pulls like a bat out of hell!

I tuned for it by shifting my MAF readings ~10% positive and ramped my timing way up. Had to call it quits cause the weather got sour here.

Have yet to experiment with with new HPT tables cause the weather in Wisconsin sucks ass. 10" of snow accumulation overnight on f'n April 20'th..

EDIT: When I first started with ethanol, I took my normal tune and put about 2 gallons of e85 into a full tank of 0% ethanol 93 octane. Probably placebo but I felt as though the car pulled harder and ran smoother, didn't experience any problems.

yes it is. Car runs great but I need to datalog again because I just changed my intercooler and charge piping...doesn't seem to be right

On another note...I need to think about a clutch soon. Car is about 5 months old with 5,000 miles on it but with the tune and other mods I don't think it will last all that long haha. So far it is not slipping and I take it easy on the car
