whp and trap speeds 93 octane, quietest catback?
Just picked up a 09 ss sedan, i've had many turbo cars over the yrs ie DSM, turbo regals, syclones, typhoons, twin turbo supra, turbo 5.0 mustang etc so I'm familiar with the turbo platforms and mods and how one thing goes hand in hand with another etc. I currently have a Z06 for all out dragstrip duty.
I will be driving this car to work about 30miles each way and i would like to see what these cars generally are capable of with 93 octane and the stock turbo with all bolt ons. I want the quietest exhuast as I can't stand any drone on the highway. I don't have a budget and if i need to upgrade the turbo to get what i want I'd rather do that from the start. This car/platform is new to me so I'm trying to soak up/search/read as much as i can.
I want to keep the car as a daily driver without excessive lag, so what is the most whp/trap speed i can get with stock turbo, bolt ons and 93 octane no meth?
If I stepped up to different turbo that had good drivablilty that allowed more hp with just 93 octane what is the turbo that most have gone with and what whp/trap speeds are people getting?
What seems to be the quietest/no drone exhaust if there is one for these cars, i want it as quiet as possible? Like i said i'm just learning about this platform and trying to figure out the weaknesses and what can be done to it. I don't mind spending money as long as it's really needed to get what i want out of the car. I really could care less about ET as i'm not going to be drag racing the car, I prefer the sleeper aspect of it and would like good roll on performance mainly. Thanks, Damon

Ive seen the zfr turbo and it seems to be pretty nice for a DD and ease of bolting up/in and aftermarket parts. The supra was sold to a good friend, wanted to get another but ended up getting another car, I'll have a RSP one in the future i hope. As far as the catbacks, what's the actual difference from a coupe to a sedan? I've seen a lot of catbacks listed for the coupes, if i bought one for a coupe can I just add in some straight pipe for the extra length?
FTW-k04r, what's the take on this turbo compared to the zfr other than cheaper?

Well as far as target speed/trap, i want as fast as i can get with daily driving ability and the least amount of lag with 93 octane and be quiet. I'm just not familiar enough with this platform yet and I have searched and seen many combos but most are running e85 etc or meth, I don't want either of those. I have meth in a couple Grand Nationals back in the day so I know how well it works but just don't want to deal with it right now. I'd love to trap if possible 115=118mph on 93 octane, if that's possible with the right combo that's what i'd shoot for. It's not my drag/race car, it's one of my daily drivers and want it to be usable without huge amounts of lag etc. I just don't want to buy something and it cost $ in the long run when it isn't going to give me the performance that i want.
Just curious as what any guys with sedans are trapping with 93 octane and what their mods are?

Well that's pretty lofty goals for a fwd 4 cylinder. The guys with the big turbos can weigh in. it's doable but it's probably gonna take slicks and a zfr/256/259 turbo. The ZZP zfr's have the fastest spool, similar to stock, but if you are gonna run it hard on slicks you will probably have to upgrade the trans. ZZP also sells a 6 spd that's supposed to be stronger but the kit and trans aren't cheap. But since money isn't a problem it shouldn't be a big deal. Zfr and e47 with a bigger fuel pump lobe along with slicks and the trans should be a good setup. Pick a good tuner as there are a few on here with good experience on that setup, and you are money. Slicks will require you to get rid of the brembos last I heard.
Oh by the way if you are flowing that much air you will need an aftermarket inter cooler, several company's make them. Charge pipes would be a good investment also. ZZP also makes that in a kit. I would recommend also using Powell trans mounts and his control arm bushings. The stock exhaust is actually pretty good, just swap in a bigger downpipe but don't get one till you figure out which turbo you want to run.
Most guys also run a k&n sri intake, but modding the stock air box and using a good filter has also proven to work well.

Thanks for the info, I am just starting to find out who here in FL, or North Fl area is familiar with these cars and actually knows what they are doing. FL?

if you want a nice streetable car man go with the normal, full bolt ons and a tune and then do the k04r upgrade or the zfr and stay around 350-390whp save your trans a little bit and be able to have one heck of a machine on the highway
thanks
That sounds about what I'd want, I'm still just researching the different turbos and seeing which route to take as far as tuning. Prob do the trans upgrade in the future, but would like the stock one to last a bit. Was hoping without slicks and not really hammering it in the lower gears it might last a bit......sounds like it's like the old T5 trans in the mustangs i used to have.......glass.

You only hear it over 4k
get the ZFR and boost ramp the tune to save the trans.
it will be fine. if you had all of those toys you should know how to drive and that will help save the trans.
You want bolt ons:
-Charge piping
-bigger intercooler
-Intake (K&N is good)
-downpipe (catted or catless, I have catted and the car sounds aggressive driving but stock when cruising)
-keep the stock exhaust.
-Hptuners (Seek out Terminator2 for tuning in Florida, search his name in this forum. 24psi is where you want to be.)
With some good tires, you should roll out pretty good with just that. Id guess HP in the 310-325 range and torque in the 330 - 400 range depending on aggressiveness of tune. 1/4 mile trap is probably around 108-114 mph depending on the tune and fuel with traps near 12.9 - 13.4 depending on how good your tires are.
Difference between sedan and coupe is there are 2 more doors on the sedan. Thats it. Oh and sedans are pretty rare, especially if get certain colors.

My car when i was pushing it on E47 with the ZFR, catless downpipe, stock catback, nice and quiet, but sounds great. Total sleeper until the turbo starts spooling. Tranny swapped to a supercharged LSJ 4.05 bc stock 3.82 blew up 3rd gear on tuned stock turbo with E47, and that was a WOT hit with a boost ramp and it blew at 4500rpms, so its not anything to do with only getting on it at high rpms, the gears simply were not designed for the torque load. Changing the final drive from 3.82 to 4.05 or 4.45 will help, but its still hit or miss. Now back on 93 octane not pushing quite a much, but still pulls like a freight train.
Bigger turbine of the ZFR really changes the sound of the exhaust on the car, allows more sound through.
Maybe I'm just getting old lmao, but quiet exhaust and loud turbo is what i like.

^^ It definitely sounds great! You're right the ZFR definitely makes the car sound different than it does with the K04. Probably you're quiestest aftermarket option would be the TurboXS GT. I've heard it in person and that exhaust with a catted downpipe was considerably quiter than my MPx with muffler and catless downpipe.
