WOT problem
WOT problem
I have been having an issue with my car since getting cooler out side. Its like the problem when you no lift shift when the engine isnt warm and it makes that like fuel cut sound and get the flashing engine light. Well mine is when completely warm, if I roll on the throttle and then hit the next gear fast without NLS it still does it. It dont matter what gear. My buddie said he thinks it might be that the tune was done when it was 70 out and now it is 40 or below. Any thoughts are apprieciated.
If your car's ecu is tunned then yes, temperature may be the reason becuse your fuel/air ratio its no the same. Have you noticed you car spends even more fuel lately?. There are ways to menage this but I wont say becuse I am not 100% sure if all the options work and I dont want to make an @ss of myself on the forum :P
I don't know if you have any way of recording a datalog, but if so, I would think making a datalog of the issue and sending it off to vince for analysys might be a good idea..
I was thinking of changing the plugs. But a tune will wait till spring since I am getting ready to put it up.

[QUOTE=cmiller8006;4386780]It was funny because we had just got done with the tune, and then a week after I sent back the cable and it dropped in the 40's is when it started. It doesnt do it all the time but I even tried a NLS and it happened it.
oh man that sucks.. figures it would work that way of course.. too bad you weren't local, or I'd let you use my cable. I actually purchaced the cable from him for situations just like this one..
In regards to the problem you're having, do you have this issue with the stock tune file or only with the performance tune? I have actually had the same thing happen to me a few times before, but only when I NLS (which isn't very often ever since the tune). I sort of chocked it up to the ECM having issues with the extra boost and fuel in the tune parameters so I never really made an issue of it.

It doesnt do it on the stock tune. Maybe I will try to find plugs tomarrow and see. I have 15,000 miles and on stock plugs.

Well today I regapped my plugs, and went out and did some runs with the same results as before. So I started thinking and noticed that when I am shifting fast, I am not NLS but I was still getting that pop like I was doing it. Well I was only letting out about half way off the gas so the rpms hit the rev limiter. So I did a few pulls making sure to pull off the gas all the way and it went away. So then did a few NLS's and was getting the problem still, but that is do to lowering the rev limiter. Lowered my shift point to 5500 and did another NLS and no more problem, so I think it was hitting the rev limit and cutting fuel and then when I got back in it it just continued to cut the ignition. Any way I think the problem is solved.

I changed plugs and it helped. But gapping slightly tighter was teh cure for me. I only had this issue if I ran out 1st to the limiter and didnt switch to 2nd before it tapped the limiter.
Yea I am getting plugs over the winter. It does the same thing into 3 and 4 as well on my car. Like you said I think I was running it out a little to far before I would shift.
I did a few NLS's yesterday and it feels the same as the day it was tuned in the middle of summer. one thing I did notice when I pulled the plugs a few weeks ago was the plugs are definitely seeing some heat! The plug was perfectly coloured a peanut brown but the porcelain was taking some heat, new plugs next season for sure.
My tune is set up for high 80/low 90 degree weather. The other day I coaxed this rsx to run and on our second run I nls 2-3 and screwed it up a little so the engine light was flashing at me and then I got on it some more before it stopped flashing and it set a cel for misfire. The temp outside was in the low 60's
