ZFR Customers Check This

We were installing a ZFR turbo today and found that the exhaust housing had some material cast a little further than normal where there is a bolt tab on the top of the manifold. The housing was making contact with the manifold just before it was fully tight. We have never run into this before, but make sure you check this when installing if you have already received your ZFR. We will check all of these and address any that run into the same issue if we find more.

Here are some pics:

On this one, we just cut the tab off the manifold.

If you run into a clearance issue there, please let us know. We can swap out your housing or you can hit the tab or the housing with a grinder or air sander. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Hopefully none that shipped out will run into this problem.

So that oil line that is sandwiched between the exhaust manifold and exhaust turbine of the turbo. It reaches 1800*F at times on my logs. The rubber in that isnt going to melt?? I mean I trust your word as you've said it will be okay. I'm getting an extended oil line for myself just in case. I track my car and I know it will get much hotter and I don't want to take a risk of the oil cooking in the SS line with the rubber.

One thing I forgot to mention. On my car the turbo compressor housing rubbed on the AC line and made a hole in the line.. Just be careful it doesn't rub like mine.

And even if that was the egt temp it doesn't mean that the ss line is seeing that temp when its near the exhaust manifold, no where near that.

I understand that, it was sandwiched between the the turbo and exhaust manifold. 1/4" or so away from each one. I did not want to risk anything. I extended the oil line on Saturday and fitted it with a special heat wrap just in case. Before the shop did that, they even showed me the SS oil line and a part that was starting to show heating. It was a little golden brown on about 2" of the line. Now I have peace of mind when I go to the track circuit next month. Now it is time to figure out my wastegate issue.

Thank you for the explanation, this is what type of answer I was looking for. Now I know that it's made up for that reason.

Why didn't you move the line out of the way?

Order the DEI Heat Shroud wrap [SKU: 010405] for the turbo oil line, it's fireproof, it protects the oil line to withstand 500°F of direct continuous heat & 2000°F radiant heat from the turbo exhaust housing.. and it's for 1/2" to 1-1/4" ID lines and it comes 3 ft long, which is nice to use the extra length for the ignition lines or fuel lines from the fire wall..

super easy to install and it can be cut to length with scissors.. no need to remove the oil line to install it.. it took about 10-15 min to install it for a customer, but worth it..

once I get the customer's car back for 4.45 transmission swap next week, i'll post up pics..

NO WAY! It's as easy as that!? Next time I'll remove the compressor housing and the sidewall of my car to move the Ac line. Time to post some pics cause you guys think I'm retarded or something...

PS, I noticed it after my AC stopped working.
