ZZP downpipe O2 bung question

I'm considering getting the ZZP catted downpipe and was wondering where the O2 bung is located and what it looks like. I've seen a few pictures floating around in the forums, some showing an angled short tube close to the resonator end (running stock exhaust) and others showing a long L-shaped tube a little closer to the manifold end. Anyone have an idea which it is?

It's sort of more like a "J" than an "L" but yeah basically the same idea... It is located about 8"-10" before the flange where it meets up with the rest of the exhaust if I remember correctly. It's basically in the stock location, just with a defouler ("J" looking thing) on it

Does that cause any problems having the sensor that far away from the exhaust flow? I noticed that a lot of the other downpipes have a shorter angled tube.

Like the other guy, I have ZZP's spun metal cat downpipe. Wow I'm not sure how many miles it's been on now. I drive a lot.... (I'm at almost 53K miles on my 08) I calculate 10-12K miles minimum that mine has been on. Not a single issue thus far. It's been flawless.

The farther away, the better. This post-cat O2 sensor's only function is to detect a faulty cat. Picture of buddy's ZZP DP.

^^^Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. As long as it doesn't throw any CEL's that's the one I'm going with.

My buddy Drew has thrown 2 CELs in the past 4 months, but one time he stalled taking off and it came on. You just disconnect the battery and clear the code. No biggy.

I hate when people say that. If you have a hpt or trifecta you better not throw a cel, it can be disabled!! so it shouldnt.

Theres a friend in MN with a catless and is throwing codes with a stage 1 gm tune. Otherwise I have a catted hahn and havent thrown a code. if you go catted you have a much better chance of not throwing a code.

I went with a ZZP spun metal cat. No codes yet after 10-15K miles on canned tune.

The power difference is very very small according to what I've researched. It's really about the sound I think and the catted is plenty loud for me.

****.. I ran my ZZP 3" catless for about a month with the J shape bung without throwing a code or engine light with GMS1. What is there to be scared of?

here is a pic of what my o2 sensor looked like on the stock DP before I put it on the catless DP.

ya thats why I went catted. Not much power loss compared to catless, little quieter and most likely not the hassle of a cel on a gm tune.

the annoyingness of a cel on a gm tune is the 1 part. Not every car acts the same, its very random with catless.

My ZZP spun metal cat DP did this also. I had them disabled by Vince in my Trifecta tune.

Here's the kicker though, my ZZP catless DP never threw a code (and I still had the codes enabled), I only threw a code after I swapped to the spun metal DP.

Yes, I did make sure the wires were not twisted or pinched on my O2 sensor when installed on the Spun metal cat DP. Everything on the O2 wiring harness connector down to the sensor looked almost new. I only had 5,500 miles total on my car, so I highly doubt the O2 sensor went out.

Same, just installed the ZZP catted DP and I am throwing a CEL. I threw it only after 15 miles of install then I cleared and it took longer to throw it the second time. I am trifecta tuned, but I tuned the car before the downpipe install so I didn't have it programmed for the DP.

Some people on the site say that the code isn't thrown as much, the longer you drive with the DP.

It's just wierd that some people throw a CEL and others don't.

Consensus is that the sample tube on the ZZP pipe is a little too long, causing the slow to respond code.
