zzp lnf upgrade kit
zzp lnf upgrade kit
going to purchse the kit next week, but cant get ahold of zzp for some questions hopefully you guys can help me out.
my car just got a new stock clutch and trans put in this week from dealer, do I need to upgrade the clutch to handle this kit?
is it safe to go with the two bigger turbos on the stock motor? or does it require additional mods to work safely with those?
tuning...can trifecta do that for me like they do with can tunes or no? where should I go with that...
only things I can think of right now, if any of you have done this before and have any pointers for me, id appreciate it. thanks.

Yes alot of people have done this kit, yes u will need a upgraded clutch, yes u can run it on stock motor, stock motor can handle 450whp to be safe, shoot for 400 whp
You may not need a new clutch ive been running around 400+hp for a couple months on my car no clutch slip yet*knock on wood* far as a tune id go with hp tune and not trifecta. Zzp can send you a canned tune or you can find a local tuner and have them tune it
I'd get a tune from ZZP. The reason my motor blew a headgasket was the factory boost controller was routed as a manual boost controller on the tial wg and it caused rapid surging. It was because I went with Tials WG diagram on their site, when I should have asked zzp for one. So yeah, an S256ET is safe. Now an S259 is pushing the stock bottom end. I would personally get a clutch, you can get the KY 6-Pucks for around $475 and from what I hear, they're a great clutch.
If you are going to run the stock clutch, I would go with a 256 and manual boost control. When the running the 256 at ~20psi, the boost will climb a little with RPMs. This will keep the torque low for the stock clutch, but you will still have to be careful. When you put in a stronger clutch, then you can turn it up to 24psi and pick up a bunch of power.
Don't run the 259. They have a power band like a sterotype Supra, except you can't rev high enough on the stock valvetrain. With stock springs, you will have no bottom end due to the turbo size, and no top end due to the valvesprings.
I can set you up with an ECM that will work well without additional tuning. You can email me at stattama@aol.com with any questions.

Matt M - I bought an ecm tune from you with my s256et kit. Should I have gotten a manual boost controller. I was planning to alter the ecm tune to run 26psi of boost if its possible. Wasn't sure if the ecm would allow me to run that much power. Cheers.
How long ago did you get the ECM from us? If it is fairly recent, then you can run a manual boost controller without issue. Otherwise I can update you to a better MBC file or help set up your file to run the boost levels you are looking for.
Not trying to take away from ZZP's business or anything, but treadstone has almost the exact same manual boost controller that ZZP uses for $60 on their site. Its the one I'll be using.
I like the looks of the AEM unit. I am shopping though, and think i will stay with an ecu tune for now. The plan is once I get a built motor trans and the fifth injector with e85, that i will need a boost controller with limits around 35psi.
Yeap, hoping to get a built trans and fifth injector+aeromotive stealth as well. Not going to worry about the fifth injector too soon though as I have my meth kit to run later. I got the manual boost controller so when my engine is broke in I can get a retune and crank up the boost when I want to.
Did you go ahead and order it? You're going with the stage 3 kit right? You should cruise up with me to their dyno meet. You can get dynoed there and see what you're making depending on if they get it to you quick enough since the meet is this month. I'm hoping to get dyno tuned up there.

Dyno tuning is a pretty involved and long process (most of the time). Do you think that the meet would be good for that? Seems like Matt's attention will be so scattered. I guess they could use your car as the teaching / demo subject for the tuning "class" they are planning for Saturday.
I mean, I have messed around with the wg duty cycle by dropping it to save my stock clutch some but thats about it. I was too scared to mess with anything else significant.
