ZZP Trans Mounts - Possible Issue?

ZZP response below

After a looong wait for UPS I was about to put in my trans mounts today but noticed this just now.

Should I be concerned? Or is it normal perhaps? I included a picture of their website too. Thinking about putting it anyway tbh, but maybe thats just my impatience after waiting 18 days.

First question, have you contacted ZZP before making a thread?

Looks like the person making the bushings cheaped out and just rolled some flat aluminum. Super shady.

I would deff contact zzp first and email them a picture if possible. It should not look like that.

But no, I haven't waited for a response yet. This is one of the functions of a forum though. I've been seeing a lot of posts like this in my searches (some threads even locked from actual serious issues with vendors - simply because they are a vendor). If the issue is resolved (or even if it is one because I don't know), I will update it and tell everyone what happened - but the information should stay for anybody in the future in case it happens to them too they know 1) what happened and 2) what will happen.

Seems like a lack of QC on ZZP's part. I have a lot of their stuff on my car, but if Powell makes a part, I will always get it from them. Nobody comes even close to the Powell design, execution and customer service

I'm going to be honest and ask why you got a ZZP rotated mount that's not actually rotated. They just call it that so their more solid mounts in the stock location. Only option for rotated mounts in my opinion are Powell's.

They aren't? They looked the same from the pictures in threads honestly. Plus their website doesn't work at all. Also I heard nothing but good things and I got them on sale on black friday.

Well, they looked the same until I got this one in the mail

Edit: I do have both front and rear mounts, if it makes a difference

Looks like a big ass roll pin. Do I think that's the best way to do it? no. But do I think it's going to be a problem? probably not.

They are not the same. Powell re-uses the stock rear mount and just supplies an aluminum keyhole spacer to rotate the engine forward. And they spend their time on design instead of their website. Look at this thread https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/gene...powell-296456/ or email john@powellraceshop.com and you'll get an answer in minutes, any day of the week

I dont want to keep pressing because I really don't know, but this isn't the same general design?

Front trans mount from powell's thread

NOTE:If installing stage 2 mounts remove the entire rear mount bracket, (use a Christmas tree fastener removal tool to remover the 02 sensor clips) install the new rear mount, which does not require a key hole spacer, do not tighten the cross bolt and the re-install the bracket and mount assembly.
Another quote from his thread. Rear mount stage 1 uses a keyhole spacer, unless its stage 2 which is a separate item altogether. I had assumed was the same principle as the ZZP stuff.

Please just believe me when I say that ZZP's aren't rotated get the Powell or nothing is my opinion on it. ZZP can call them whatever they want even if they aren't actually rotated, I believe it zoomer that doesn't think it does anything.

I haven't mentioned OTTP because well just no, I don't like them. Not to mention theirs are the only ones that have had problems with the bushings failing.

not try to knock zzp but ive installed atleast 10 or 12 of these and not a single one ive had to loosen the upper mount or do anything to get the holes lined up. they line up with the stock stuff perfectly. in other words they arent rotated.

email zzp. im sure if its a crack they will warrenty it for you no problem. cant say ive ever seen a pin like that though. they are usually solid.

Yes and no, not all vendors (rightfully so) want someone jumping on the forums right away going hey I just got this part does this look right before they've had a chance to fix the issue, because threads like this don't always get updated after the vendor fixes the issue. I will give you credit for not coming in here blasting zzp, but if they do fix the issue for you please update the thread.

Yeah if they fit without adjusting the position of the engine that means they are not rotated... Rotated mounts are supposed to rotate the engine, up in the back, down in the front...

I will. I understand the importance of it in these situations.

its the Spacer in the rear mount that "rotates" the design... the front mount is just a more durable mount.

the spacer can be used with the stock rear mount.

The ZZP kit isn't rotated theirs no rear spacer they have. The front mount is the one that moves the engine lower and the rear raises with a spacer. Sorry yellow but that's wrong and I wish more people knew that.

I got a response from Steve at ZZP. He said it's not unusual (now, im assuming) if it's not perfectly round. Their manufacturer switched to roll pins.

I will put them in and just take a look from time to time.

Not bashing zzp, but it's not as advertised, definitelty different from their pic on the site. Powell mounts are the best.
