Well my issue is still there so I know it is not the plugs or the gap. I have the Iridium's at .040".

Starts fine.
Idles fine.
Normal driving, cruising fine.
3\4 throttle surges.
WOT goes like stink.

Plugs themselves are nice. The electrode is very tough to bend to gap, especially being careful not to damage the point, which is 1\4 the size of copper plugs.
Very expensive. $75 CDN with taxes for a set of 4.
Supposed to last a really long time so I hope the money was well spent.

Ok all. I just finished gapping my plugs. They looked pretty good BTW! I started from .45 and went to .35 ( 3.5, 3.7, 4.0, 4.2, 4.5)
I did a bit of WOT for each. I found .40 to be the smoothest with my mods. With smaller pulleys like a 2.8, that all of us will be getting now thanks to SS_SC_Cobalt's nice find, I think .35 would be best. That took a while! This will only help the Stage 2 guys but we have progress. Anyone else have good news? *I updated the thread.

So what your saying is if I get 1 step colder and gap them at .40 with my stage 2 my car will run better like your's did?

I found something weird today. I ran through the gears and at 6500 in 3rd the car felt like it hit the rev limiter for a second but then kept pulling up to 7k. Would the plugs help fix this? Its best discribed as a hic-up (Sp?). thanx for all the work and input!

Yep. A .40 gap with stage 2 works nicely. It took me 2 hours to test all of those gaps and that was the best. I took my step bro with me so I had a 2nd opinion. He agreed with .40

The plugs should fix that hickup at 6,500 but i'm not 100%. It could be a leak or something but I don't know for sure. Anyone else want to chime in on that hickup issue?

Hopefully a new set of plugs is all you need. I have been getting that and it is because I am leaning out at a certain point (not up high at WOT). I am hoping a HPT tune will solve mine.
Glad I have the WEGO to see what is going on with the air\fuel ratio.

I installed some BKR7EIX this morning. I did not chance trying to gap them at $70 a set and have read and was told by the salesman at Zelmor they are not meant to be re-gapped.

Anyway, once I had Stage II installed the car had choppy acceleration at 3/4 throttle thru 2nd and 3rd gears, even to the point of bogging down for a split second. Mind you the car was still fast as all get out at WOT. None the less it pissed me off for a couple months now.

BUT the new plugs, without a doubt, took 90% of MY choppy acceleration out! Car pulls nice a smooth right up to redline! Will give it some more time to break in the plugs a bit, but so far I am very pleased!

Now to order that 2.8 pulley ring as it seems I have solved my issue.

BTW I was out and about this AM and stopped at a exhaust shop as I just wanted a new muffler to replace the stock one, figured 100 - $150, he told me $350 installed. I walked out without another word spoken got in my car and drove away. WTF is it me or is that outrageous?

Just a little something I noticed on 935motorsports.com when I was looking to order some NGK BKR7E plugs for my new 2.8" pulley ...
"NGK Spark Plug BKR7E, which is one range colder than stock turbo plugs. A commonly used plug for high horsepower setups. These are used on 1000HP cars! The theory is that copper will allow more energy transferred then stock platinum and result in a better spark. The drawback is that they don't last as long. You should change these plugs about every 3000-5000 miles."
Any input into the necessity of such frequent plug changes?

I would have to say typo...as typical copper plugs are usually more like 30000-50000 miles, where as some platinum plugs will reach 100000. I will never get plugs I have to change more often than my oil, no matter what the performance is.

I tried to get some at auto zone yesterday but no luck. Anyway, I found out if I rev to 5k before a WOT run, My car doesnt hicup as bad. I hope the plugs will fix this.

Yes the plugs should take care of that.

ok so this past weekend I changed my oil and re gapped my plugs. They were at a .36 gap now they are at a .40 gap. Also they were burning really clean after 9k miles on them. I haven't noticed any performance difference. I did notice that my idle just stays a 1k RPM. Before it would kind of float between 1k and about 1.2k

7E's were pregapped at 0.037". I left them at that gap and it was fine.

Check the gaps before you pop them in though

I have the 7EIX's now at .040" and it works fine as well.

No problem. You are going to check though aren't you? 1 may be at .040 and another at .035".
Or are you going to go for it anyway?
