10w Oil Question

Hey People Its Time For An Oil Change Again And I Have Some 10w30 I Can Get For Like 1.50 A Qt. And Yes It Is Mobile 1. Question Is, Is 10w Ok To Run In Our Cars? Or Do I Need To Forget About It, Stop Being Cheap And Pay Full Price For 5w?

stick to 5w30 unless you live in a very warm climate. if its hot all the time, you can run 10w30.

I just put RP in my car last night and I really think it runs a lot better than it did with the Mobil 1. But I am comparing RP with the mobile that had 3300 miles on it.

Before i had my 408 installed i had RP running in the LS1. After 5500 miles i checked it and it still looked clean. M1 would always get so dirty when i ran it.

Okay people... the only difference between 10w30 and 5w30 is that at really cold temps, the viscosity is supposed to act like the weight of the first number (10, or 5). ...

What this means is, that at really cold temps (~0 deg f) the oil will be a bit thicker, therefore harder to start and circulate. While at really cold temps, this would be bad on your car, I wouldn't worry about it unless you live in a part of the country that often dips below 0 degrees and you have to start it alot in such temperatures. IE California/Nevada/Arizona etc you could run 10w30 all year without problems. But if you live in say... Minnesota, you may want to reconsider lol.

I wouldn't risk it. I guess the risk is your engine blows up (not necessarily because of the oil) and your warranty claim gets denied because of the wrong oil.

impossible to prove that you have 10w instead of 5w in.
