119 octane!!! WHAAAT

my first post in this thread: "You want to use the lowest octane fuel that doesn't cause pre-ignition. Always."
his response: "ok so go put 87 in ur little evo and see ho well it runs.."
This is not how you avoid a forum beat down by people that actually understand what they are talking about.
Misinformed people asking questions or admitting they are wrong after being proven wrong usually don't lead to flaming. Misinformed cocky people that refuse to believe they are wrong or listen to reason do.

yes methanol is very corosive in its pure state. in the race cars i work on (top alcohol dragster and a blown pro-mod/doorslammer) we have to drain the alcohol out of the entire fuel system and pruge the system with wd40 every night after racing to prevent corosion. however, alcohol/water, mixed as intended (50/50 max) isnt corrosive, nor is it flamable, not untill its a vapor.

methanol and ethanol isnt gasoline, its a completly different chemical makeup. methanol doesnt leave carbon deposites like gasoline does. as for cleaning, most of that comes from the water as it evaporates, it basicly "steam cleans" the inside of the motor.

Also just because iron never gets rained on doesnt mean it wont rust (oxidize). I think other things will fail before the oxidization will eat at the block/SC housing, hence why i run it however if you are running methanol mix as a DD it will be oxidizing.

no, octane is CH3(CH2)6CH3.
the octane rating is a system defining the fuels perceved percentage of iso-octane to heptane. in other words, in 91 octane fuel, it should burn just like a fuel that was 91% iso-octane molecules.
now, that said, it does NOT actually tell you it's octane level, just how it burns, so it's very possible that different fuels will go about it the same way, thats also how you can get ratings over 100.
