150 stock. 142 stage 2??

ok so I know it's stupid to go crazy fast, but the day i did the airbox mod me and my friend went out for a late night drive just to listen to the whine mixed with the cold air and once i started going i found myself in 4th still accelerating and just figured ahh hell i'm goin this fast might as well see what she's got so i got it up into 5th and hit 150 then backed off cause that **** got scarey lol and I like my life.

The only mod I had at the time was just the airbox mod. Everything else completely stock.

Anyways, now i'm GM Stage 2 along with the airbox mod, no other mods. Was out tonight with my friend in his ss/sc also so I got on it again and when i hit 5th i hit 140 and it was like everything it had to get to 142 then i backed off cause it just didn't seem to wanna go anymore. Only thing I can think of is do you think this is because i'm on stock exhaust setup? Idk what other reasons why it would be slower in the top speed range.

Stop testing out your top speed.

Lots of things could be affecting your top speed like wind, aero drag, etc.

No need to worry about going that fast man. I'm happy enough knowing the SS/SC's limiter is 158 mph. That's plenty fast, and I will never try to get there.

Stage 2 has a 155mph speed limiter. It could have been many factors causing you to think you are slower when in reality you aren't. Humidity, Temperature, was it the same road? Too much to factor in.

PS: Don't speed, follow the speed limits or take it to the track. I had a friend die this past sunday due to speeding. Lost control, hit a pole, flipped his truck multiple times and was flung out of the windshield. Speed kills!

No it does not. Stage 2 does not change the limiters top speed. It's 158 mph trust me.

but i agree with you. It is not worth messing with your life driving that fast.

I looked at it in the hptuner. It says 155. Could it be that I am from Canada and have the Canadian file? If that makes any sence.

Hmm .... I dont know, maybe?

I saw the HPT file from it awhile ago.

Like BYT said 155-158 no need to argue, haha.

Bottom line no need to test out the top speed

it should be a 158mph cutoff, and 155mph resume on the GMS2 tune

Take a GPS next time. Find the percentage variance at that speed. I'm curious.

there won't be a next time lol. I was on the same road and it was probably about 15 degrees colder this time than it was when i went 150. mods are airbox mod and new from CED Stage 2. 77.9mm pulley, 42# injectors reflash with tech2. The main thing i was really only wondering was if it may have been because I'm still on stock exhaust so I just wondered if it was restricting. I don't want to go faster lol. 120mph is plenty too fast as it is. I'm typically going 5 under the speed limit for some odd reason.

Just a guess but I would say it's 155..but at those speeds the speedometer isn't 100% accurate so someone might see it read up to 160mph.

The 158mph limiter I was talking about can be seen in HPT.

Like one member said the SS/SC has a 158mph limiter 155mph resume.

I have never gone that fast nor do i plan on it, so I cant really say what the speedometer or a gps would say.

no i had the highrise the first time i did it and no i didn't shift at the same rpm. i shifted 6500 the first time. this time i shifted at about 6800. I'm not interested in getting to the speed. the only question i had was if it was because i'm on stock exhaust setup.

You might have had a tail wind the first time and a head wind the 2nd .... The stock exhaust won't hurt the performance with stage II .....to make it slower than stock . GM designed stage II for an otherwise stock car.... so there is no way the stock exhaust is making you slower than stock.

Have you checked the intercooler pumps is working ? make sure there is coolant flowing in the filler neck. Otherwise I would chalk it up to wind conditions.
