1st to 2nd gear shift
1st to 2nd gear shift
Well today I finally took delivery of my 2006 SS/SC
Arrival blue, G85, sunroof, onstar, xm etc.....
Annyways, my question is, do you feel the power loss ( due to the gearing) shifting from 1st to seccond? Maybe it's just me and I don't have the right technique down, or perhaps im just used to my old car. Or maybe i should just chill out till the car is broken in

Yeah my SS lagged between 1000-2000RPMs until about 2000 miles....
Bah, 2nd gear is supposed to be your best gear! I shift into it at 1,250 RPMs for city driving, I don't even get into positive boost numbers most fo the time.
When I'm hard on the throttle I shift into second at 4000 RPMs to control wheel spin. You waste TOO much gas shifting over 3000 RPMs, shift lower you'll save money! Most of the time I can shift from third to fith and skip fourth.
If you shift lower in the RPM range you will notice a smoother ride. Higher RPM's lower gear tend to create that jerk back and forth sensation. Also a smooth ride tip, never downshift into 1st from 1mph+, always go to second.

Personally I vary my driving style depending on my mood and my driving environment, sometimes you just want to cruise around in 5th, and other times you want to really wind it out and use all the available power
