A local ricer owns a cobalt and he swares his car put down 297whp. No nitrous no meth he doesnt even know what pulleys on it stock heat exchanger. It has a corsa exhaust, stock clutch, k&n intake. What should he really put down. Its on a mail order tune from ZZP

 

well it is possible from a 2.0 SC i should be over 300. but i run meth, built internals, 2.6 pulley, head work, and all the goodies and cooling mods.

id say with all the right cooling mods and a good tune he could be getting damn close to that with a 2.7 and 60s... maybe more like 280 tho

 

But not some mail order tune and no cooling mods.

if he doesnt have meth,
front mount HE
option b tank
or dual bypass

chances are slim to none. to get that kinda power you will need to run alot of boost, and in doing so you will create ALOT of heat. once you do that you will start running less HP with out all the pproper cooling mods

i have decided when any ricer kid says his HP chances are its 20-40% less then he says haha

 

I know for a fact the cars on a mail order tune. Im almost possable this is the kit the car has. Which even intense says the max is 275whp.

if he is running that without cooling mods, tell him good luck. its just a matter of time

 

ohhh god an intense tune .... in that case he prob. has 240 whp.

yea the header/dp combo also has alot to do with hp numbers so if it's stock he's most likely around 240whp ish

 

with those mods hes nowhere near 300, ask him to race then after make fun of him

 

The car has a stock downpipe and corsa exhaust it has a cat as well.

 

i say he is at 230~ whp. My car didnt even make 297 with TVS, Meth, H/E, Header, 3" dp with hi-flow cat, 3" exhaust, 60lb injectors, 2 step colder plugs, CAI and a tune set to 11.9 afr and 25* timing

 

Thats terrible dude. I would be insanely pissed if i bought a TVS and couldnt put down 300.

What did it pull? I talked to 1badbluberry and this summer he is tuning me for a 2.7 and meth. He pulled 287whp on that set up. (heh, all these 2X7's)

 

Haha, ported head and a good tune would have fixed it. But 370zs are nicer anyways

 

ya if you have full bolt ons and a tvs and dont make 300 or over, its time for a new tuner

Here is a dyno of my car on a 2.8 and 2.7. Its hard to beat but every dyno is different.

Green 2.7" E85
Red 2.8" E85
Blue 2.8" premuim

 

280whp. Even though it was 11.9 and 25* it was still safe and i didnt want to risk going more aggresive. Kinda got pissed that i put that much money into the car so i decided to sell it and get the 370z..lol.

 

x2 he should of bought 80lb injectors and a good tune should of gotten him at 320whp

 

With meth injection or E85 yes. On premium fuel alone. NO!

 

Does he live in Michigan like you? Cuz if so, he's a moron. Both OTTP and ZZP are nearby, and he chose an Intense canned tune? Hmmmm.
