I think you need at least the stage2 belt to be able to go down to 2.8

i ran a 2.8 on the stock belt and im not sure it slipped or not but i think it did from 6000-7000rpms but i noticed the car was a tad faster when i put the smaller belt on.

what about if you have a 2.6 pulley and the stage 2 belt , do you still need the adjustable tensioner pulley

Kate,

I was slipping with the stock tensioner and the 3.0 pulley, but with my 2.8 and stage 2 belt, it has never slipped. If you're still on the stock belt and tensioner with the 2.9 and not slipping, consider yourself lucky. Definitely recommend the shorter belt if you're going to go smaller.

watch your boost gauge...

if you can get away with it... go for it..

if the boost is constant, then you are fine..

it it jumps all over the place... time for a smaller belt

You'll need the Stage 2 belt with the 2.8" pulley. I needed the smaller belt and tensioner for the 2.6" pulley. And no, no one makes a 2.6" pulley that fits the GM Stage 2 hub. I think that answers all the questions in here haha.

Get the adjustable tentioner. That is exactaly what I have on mine when I had that pulley on my car. Worked great, Never one problem

Hey how come you don't have your own profile?

I was running the stock belt and the 2.8 for a while. I would work as long as I kept the RPMs under 6500.

Well that seems like a pain in the ass and the stqge 2 belt is lot cheaper.

I don't have my own profile because it is easier this way, so we don't hqve to log in and out of cobaltss.net and ciaz. (I also like to make it look like steve is a girl)

Seems like the people (at least local) know that we both use this.

I thought I read somewhere that you can't go smaller than 2.7 on the GM hub because the ring is larger than those used by ZZP, Billet, etc.

I actually don't know....its possible that it doesn't fit. I just bought the ZZP hub/pulley.
