Injector Duty Cycle...You really don't want to see any higher than 80% but uhmm....Oh well.

Distillion has no problems with his 2.85" with gm stage 3 so talk to him about whether or not a 2.9" is safe on stage 3. I rock the 2.9 but I dont have the proof that its safe but it pulls hard and I havent had any probs yet been revvin to 7250 all day long to

SO from what i understand, keep it simple until i get tuned? no hard driving or shifting? but with a tune and a 2.9 w/ 45's i should be fine right? I was under the impression that with a good tune, i wouldnt really need any cooling mods...thats why i decided to go 2.9, to just add a little without having to drop any more money...

also, you guys have any good dyno tune shops around the DC.MD.VA area? I'm lookin at tune time in jersey currently, so i'm willing to drive a ways to get a good tune....anyone have any ideas?

Bingo! Cooling mods are good for stock, stage 2, stage 3, stage 347584758435, and any other setup...I just switched to a 2.9 as well and I love it..just get 60s and a tune whenever you can afford it and you'll be fine..

I have not been on this forum for over one year. 2 years back the 2.8" was the hot ticket with the GM stage 2 kit. I have been running it now for 2 years with no problems. Have people been having issues with this setup ? All mods are in my sig line.

This is a lil off-topic, but does HPtuners show your IDC when on a dyno? I was just wondering because I am going to dyno soon, and it would be nice to know what my IDC is now that I too have a 2.9

And damn am I enjoying this cold weather. Got to see 17.5psi last night for the first time. huzza!

what exactly causes the IDC's to go up? the increased PSI? so what would happen if i got my blower ported and put on a 2.9 on, since porting your blower lowers psi and increases CFM?

it gets raised due to commanded air/fuel calculated by airflow. so yes porting your blower should theorectically lower IDC's. then again if you get into mods like that, you should really just upgrade to 60's

Over running the injectors WILL shorten the life of your car and not just the injectors. An injector is a solenoid but the rating is not "how fast" it opens and closes. The rating in pounds or cubic centimeters is how much fuel each individual injector flows at 100% duty cycle OR as fast as the manufacturer deems the maximum safe operating speed. No more than 80% duty cycle is recommended to ensure that the engine does not run lean. It is possible to run above the recommended level but not advisable. Get a wideband O2 sensor and tune by that. 14.7 A/F is complete fuel consumption but too lean for practical automotive applications. 12.5-12.8 is about perfect for peak horsepower generally speaking. Every car will be different. I usually run a more conservative tune for forced induction cars for added protection.
