2.9" Pulley

Few things.

First, the 2.9" pulley is also called the "stage 3 pulley"? and where is the best place to get one?

Secondly, I am ordering my stage 2 soon from CED. If i get the 2.9 pulley can i use the stge 2 belt and hub?

Third, If i just swapped the 2.9 for the stge 2 one in the box before its installed, do you think they would notice? and still warranty it if something blows up? I doubt they will measure the pulleys?

Lastly. is it safe to run a 2.9 on stock internals and cooling devices? Just intake exhaust and stge 2.

Thanks guys!
Jack

the official GM stage 3 pully is 2.99

yes you can use a 2.9 pully with the S2 belt

they probably wouldnt notice....but it only takes 2 minutes to swap a pully anyway.

Yes its fine to run the 2.9

1. Nate...he is now a supporting vendor. many of us have purchased pulleys from Nate. Great work and craftsmanship.

http://www.smoothflowpulleys.com/

2. yes you will be fine with the stage 2 belt.

3. I would install the pulley after the dealer installs stage 2. Make sure the dealer does not put lock tight on the hub bolts and make sure to get the bolt tool back from them. Alot of people forget to get it back so they can remove the bolts to swap to a new pulley.

4. yes it is safe. the stage 2 tune runs rich so the 2.9 pulley will lean it out a bit.

Read the posts. I put a link to his web site in my reply.

when you say 2.9 you mean the stge 3/ 2.99" right?

Cause TTR sells the stage 3 pulley and I think its what people refer to as the 2.9"

all the companies have their own little stage kits

stage 3 could be very misconstrued.

so generally when you say stage 1 2 or 3, people will assume you mean the GM kits.

Stage 1 uses the stock pully
Stage 2 uses 3.07"
stage 3 uses 2.99"

and when i say 2.9, i mean 2.90" yes.
if i mean 2.99, ill say 2.99

yep..but some may say no. It has to do with IDC. I am at 3500 ft SL and my IDC are at 90 % WOT. I agree and recommend a tune.

You should always get a car tuned with any performance mods. now some mods don't necessarily need a tune but it is always a good idea. With a 2.85 you are forcing more air into your combustion chamber. So tuning your AFR, MAF,VE and PE tables is recommended so you don't blow the motor by leaning it out.

you have some room to work with on a stage 2 tune with a 2.85 there is power to be made, i would suggest a tune, if your worried about idc's get bigger injectors then

yeah around there, depends on the tune and tuner. Some people like to push the envelope others like to play it safe.

The weight of Nates pully is so light that it weighs about the same as an empty 12 oz can of coke

I am not a big fan of the sixties. To many guys blowing piston 4. Not sure if its there tune or not. I also believe that HPtuners has a problem calculating IDC. I have discussed this with many guys and we all seem to agree. you have to remember that HPT was originally for V8's.
