2.9" pulley upgrade, do i need a reflash?

If i've already got a the GM stage 2 kit installed, what would i need to do if I put on a 2.9" pulley afterwards. Would I have to get the ECU reflashed? Also would I have to upgrade the fuel injectors to something more the the 42lb stage 2's?

thanks for the help to those who reply ! I'm a noobie

Sigh, searching is your friend, but Ill help.

If you have s2 you should be fine to run a 2.9 without another reflash or bigger injectors. Some people will say its not safe but most say its ok. I am running it on my car and I am not too worried about it.

Talking

Thanks a lot! If most have had no problems with it then i'm sure its good to go then. I have been reading a lot on this sight though. I don't have a lot of technical knowledge when it comes to cars but i'm very eager to learn. I've been addicted to this site and others just learning every about my new SS/SC that can. I wish I would have gotten into this sooner lol. Thanks again for the help

you will probably need a dremel lol...long story short if you dont have the specialty tool for the bolts youre fucked without a dremel (even with one in my opinion) also if your dealer went overboard with the locktite then youre fucked then too...i was expecting a simple pulley change but ive had the pulley a week and its not even close to installed

Yes a 2.9 will run just fine on the stock Stage 2 tune... now to really unlock the true performance of it... yes getting it tuned will open it all up for you!

I was running a 2.85 for about 500-600 miles prior to getting tuned... believe me it makes a HUGE difference!

What exactly is done in a tune? Is it something I can do myself or would I have to take it to the dealer?

You probably might want to stay away from the dealer for something like that.

I've been curious about this too. I know you have to go to a performance shop (someone with a dyno and knowledge), but what exactly do they do and what should I look for when searching for someone to tune it. I've seen some impressive numbers on here after people have had the car tuned. Any suggestions?

p.s.- i'm getting the stage two shortly and definitely will be getting the 2.9 for that little extra boost is why i'm asking

Well they will take out the rather "scary" GM Stage 2 tune..... And in my case make it a little smoother, adjusting timing and fuel per car!

EVERY one of these cars is different... so my tune prolly won't work in your car without some little tweaks here and there!

But it just overall makes the car happier and much safer than you would've before. I can say this:

I gained just as much with HP Tuners than I did with the Stage 2 kit!

Check out the Tuning Section of the Forum... look around you can see what they do with HP Tuners!
