remember, the GMPP system is made by Borla, so if you like the Borla system you would like the GMPP one. There are plenty of soundclips and videos all over this site of just about any exhaust you want.

I've heard that it rubs if you don't cut it. Multiple memebrs said they had to do some very slight modifications to the CAI.

And I second your notion. You gotta buy what you like. I'd think she'd buy a turbo charged something.

Katie, I haven't heard the Borla in person but I've heard that it's a pretty quiet and good sounding exhaust so if you can get a discount on it you may go that way. I have heard the Borla Hush on some WRXs and it sounds great on them, but you really can't compare the two since the WRX has a turbo that quiets it down a lot, plus the boxer engine has a totally different sounds. Ok that probably didn't help you at all. Sorry. lol
Indeed, sounds like we think alike.

How many cars are there that are turbocharged and in the same price range as the Cobalt SS? Not many...other than the WRX....which I'm not fond of the looks...hence I go got the SS/SC. I can live with the SS/SC whine as long as my stereo still works and I can turn it up loud...LOL....I just hate hearing SC cars at the track and such....inside my car is ok because I can always just keep turning up the stereo...even when I drag my car, I still have the stereo on! LOL!

Well there are alot more turbo cars in the same price range than supercharged...because there's only one car in this price range that is supercharged.

Turbo:
WRX
SRT4
About 50 used cars

Roots SC 4 cylinders (The kind that whine):
Cobalt SS- One of the only roots sc 4 cylinder in this price range ever created and you got it even though you don't like sc.

Sorry if it seems like I'm being harsh, but you're always complaining about something with this car and there is nothing that bugs me more than whiney people (especially when they whine about sc whine). *Turns up radio*

SRT-4 is cheaper and stock for stock, a little faster, and you got a turbo on it. Why didn't you go for it?

Problem....I had to have a new 2006 that was still on the lot to cover my negative equity...so I couldn't buy a used car. And I would never buy an SRT-4 because guess what? Its still a Neon...and when I test drove one I was really uncomfortable sitting in the car.

Seriously, why is it such a big deal? I said once that I didn't like the SC whine and everyone is making a big deal out of it. If I couldn't stand it that much in that car, I wouldn't have bought the car.....but like I said, I can't hear it when I'm driving.....its not that big of a deal seriously......

but like I said, not many cars in the price range of the Cobalt that are turbo-charged.

And I wouldn't buy a Mazdaspeed 3 because I don't want a wagon again.

And the reason I'm modding my Cobalt is 1) because I like modding cars and 2) I'm going to be stuck in this car for at least 5 years until its paid off, so I might as well be happy...which is why I bought the car to begin with.

Can we not refer to the mazdaspeed 3 as a WAGON... hatchback is good enough... I have a Mazdaspeed 6 and I feel I have the big brother to a wagon when you call it that... makes me think of a bunch of freckle faced poor kids sitting in the back of a Taurus pointing at the people driving behind them...

And with that last post... could you guys all stop being asses to Katie... she's just trying to mod a damn Cobalt! And we wonder why there aren't a lot of women in the mod scene... it's because we're a bunch of roosters to them...

P.S. Please substitute rooster with it's nickname in above reference... ;0

You would like the GMPP exhaust... I have it and it sounds great. And the thing about the whine, thats fine. Doesnt bother me at all, if you don't want the whine, then do a drop in filter. I dont know what kind of gains, if any, that would get, but it would be something. Honestly, I dont think I felt very much of anything after my CAI, I just like the sound of it.

Go GMPP or Borla IMO. I know that the GMPP is a rebadged borla exhaust and the GMPP sounds great.
I have a video of my car on the dyno (although you will hear the whine) so you can hear my exhaust. Its linked where is says went to the dyno in my sig

The Mazdaspeed 6, IMO, is a hatch (or you can get it in a hatch) but the Mazdaspeed 3 is a wagon....IMO. I like the Mazdaspeed 6, and Id actually rather have a 6 than a 3, but I wanted to get out of a 4-door for a while until I have kids. But thanks for the comment....at least I'm a girl that is into cars, likes to mod and likes to race...unlike a poor little girl at the track the other night that her daily driver was a SS/SC but instead of racing it herself at the track, she had her boyfriend drive it....what the hell is up with that?

I listened to the different exhausts from the previous post, and I personally liked the sound of the GMPP exhaust the best, and its really not too expensive either, which I like...so I'll probably end up getting the GMPP, but I'm still undecided on the intake yet...my husband said I have to get one, but what one I get, I'm not sure.....

Or you could bolt a plastic tub onto the back of your exhaust with a potato about an inch from the actual tip... then poke holes in the plastic tub... this will make a nice deep sound... just imagine a child banging on a bucket... ;0

I would never lead another cobalt owner wrong... it definitely creates a louder noise... and if you add beans to the plastic tub, it will sound like turbo whistle... well... it will if you think a turbo sounds like a bunch of swirling beans.

If anyone would also like my take on small burrowing creatures and self pleasure... feel free to PM me.

A very fast, very attractive Neon that will beat our cars. but you have to be comfortable in the car you drive.

Mazdaspeed 3 is a hatchback, a very fast, attractive one at that.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the bodled statement. She just didn't want to race and her boyfriend did. Nothing wrong with that at all. Not nice to call her poor and all that stuff. Different strokes for different folks.

And you're welcome for the link with sound clips.

And your husband said you HAVE TO get A CAI? Wow....seems he tells you what to do and what not to do.

Listen, if you don't like the S/C whine, getting a CAI will make it louder, and you'll hear it when you're driving, no matter which one you get. Just drop in a filter or something. Tell him that you don't wnat to hear the supercharger's whine and that any CAI will make it very noticeably louder.

Her husbands also the one who told her that he gained 50HP from putting a TSX intake manifold onto a Honda Accord....so...it doesn't suprise me at all that he says you have to get a cai.

No my husband said that I have to get a CAI because of the pros of having one. I told him about the drop in filter and he didn't say no to it, so we might go for that...but I think CAI would be one of my last future mods, just because with the other cars I've had that had CAI, I never noticed a big enough difference for me to continue to spend a lot of money on them.

And I didn't mean poor by having no money, I was meaning poor because the girl didn't know what she was missing out on.

1. GMP exhaust. Sport and Touring both are very good. I have the touring and it is not load but loader then stock.

2. Injen CAI is my favorite intake. I have owned many cars and by far the Injen for the SS/SC I favor. Just make sure its installed correctly and if it looks like it will rub somewhere make a mod to stop that from happening.

I have the GMPP performance exhaust w/ the GMPP honed exhaust manifold w/ the airbox mod.
I wish I had gotten the GMPP touring exhaust.... i prefer my car to be a little stealthier than the performance exhaust (people hear me coming when I am WOT).
The airbox mod is a simple way to get almost CAI type gains and sounds for under $30... unless you go AEM dryflow which will cost you $40-45....and you could go back to stock by just putting the bottom back on your air filter box. Although you will get the SC whine... which is hard not to love!

just my 2 cents..... descisions, decisions

Damn you guys just keep on beating her down... Personally, I'm all about the inclusion of as many boobies in the seats as we can get... and I'm pretty sure us beating down the women and knocking them for little technicalities isn't the way to do it. So she doesn't like the whine... how about we consider that a dead issue... who cares! I don't like the sound of female singers unless they are naked and I'm wearing ear plugs... how about you rag me for that...

As for the CAI... lets all just pretend it's the greatest mod ever as we all know it's the first one that most everyone is going to make, especially newbs... Remember, each person we have in the hobby, is another one fueling it and providing for more improvements. The ones you should rag are the ones on this site that have been talking about modding out their cars for the last year and still have a stock ride... fetch those guys!

If you want to bag on a ride... bag on mine. If you want to bag on someone's questions, bag on mine. We all have had stupid questions at one point in time, that's how we learn. So, just squash the negativity and rag on something more worthwhile, such as Pacesetter and it's molded with rusted love **** products.

Well, seeing as she doesn't wish to hear it, other people can make comments on it. FOr instance, with me, I was letting her know ANY CAI will get her to get the sound that she does not want from her car. So adding in a drop in filter is one of the best things to do for her.

Trust me....no one is ragging on her, they're giving her their opinions. DOn't worry about What other folks say bro, the dead hros egets beaten around here alot.
