2005 SS/SC CEL...Need help PLEASE...
2005 SS/SC CEL...Need help PLEASE...
OK well here's the deal. My step brother has a 2005 SS/SC and he's getting a CEL. The CEL is P0443 (Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control Circuit -PCM) I replaced the evap vent solenoid which is what the dealership told me it was and cleared the codes and it still came up again. I have 3 questions...
1. What needs to be replaced to fix this?
2. Would this be covered under the factory's power train warranty if it is still in effect?
3. Is the power train warranty on a 2005 SS/SC 5 years or 60,000 miles like the 2006 SS/SC that I have?
Thanks!!!

I think the 60,000 mi warranty is good on 05's... I know for certain the 100,000 mile warranty didn't start until 07's+ I would have him take it to the dealer.
That EVAP solenoid is the thing attached to the hardline going into the TB on the front of the engine. Follow that hard tubing up to the right side of the motor and there is a rectangular assembly of some sort. Thats the EVAP valve. If you want a pic goto crateenginedepot.com and download "sidekit.pdf" from the GM Dual Pass instructions. It has a section on blower removal that lists it...
Hope that helps, PM if you need anything else...

I have a sunburst orange one...My step brother has an Arrival Blue one
I replaced the EVAP vent solenoid and cleared the sodes and it came back. He did say it takes gas very slowly when he's filling it up and when you crack the cap on the fuel tank it's like you cracked the top on a 13 gallon bottle of soda. you hear pshhhhhhhhh....

Nice. Well the dude at the dealership told me what one to get so he told us the wrong friggin one. typical...This dealership is a pain in the ass!
I'm calling GM tonight for him because he's out of warranty by less then a month (the dealership says this falls under the bumper to bumper portion of the warranty). He bought the car in June of 05 and it has 35K on it.
