2007 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC

so I just bought me a supercharged cobalt and it’s been sitting for 4 months. 106k miles and a few things need some work but overall it’s drivable and perfect after fixing. 5 speed 4 cylinder. Anyways I got me a question. when rev-ing it sounds really high pitched like a civic riced out exhaust which is gay. anythig I could do to fix it? Thx pls help it’s all stock and I ain’t tryna have that sound. and no it ain’t the supercharge whine that’s sexy just the exhaust sounds like a lawn mower but it’s stock. help!!!!!!

You sure its stock? The stock exhaust should be pretty quiet.

Disconnect one of the coil packs to make it sound like a Subaru.

tbh irdk guy maybe took some stuff off. but I’m thinking of putting on a 3” straight pipe and a magnum flow muffler. Y’all think it’ll help?

no that will be loud. the supercharged ecotecs are a fickle things to get a somewhat quiet exhaust on. i run 2 1/2", a high flow cat, zzp wisper resonator and a magnaflow oval muffler, and i find that acceptable.

id have a good look at the exhaust system, these cars are well known for blowing out the factory flex coupler, and that could be your issue.

Probably not much. If you want to go cheap just get stock size piping and a stock equivalent components. If you want it to sound good I think ZZP's 2.5 full cat-back exhaust with cat, resonator, and muffler is your best bet. 3" isn't going to net you any benefit in sound or performance.

Like Sharky said, check the flex pipe. If you can get it up on jack stands and start it up you should be able to pinpoint the noise if it is leaking somewhere. Look for a moisture spot when first starting up before the exhaust gets hot.

awesome thanks guys. what I rly wanted is a nice sound that will pop maybe some idk these laws are crazy but a nice sounding car and noise to go with the whine... if it is a leak, regardless what’s the best bang for my buck exhaust setup for nice gurgles and pops? I don’t want over the top but just a decent one?
