3" to 2.5" exhaust reducer

Long story short ZZP fucked my order up and refuses to do anything about it, so I have to fix it myself.

I have two options for 3" to 2.5" exhaust reducing from their DP to my cat-back.

Option 1: (Cone style merge, what I think is better):

Option 2: (Style ZZP uses, not much merge, just crams it together):

Well one is obviously going to flow better than the other, I'm not an engineer so I can't really say for sure, but I was sure that cone mergers were better.

As for the ZZP thing, I called them, and they told me they could do it, then I order it online and told them again, and they said for a second time they could do it.

I receive my order, and they didn't do it, so I call them and they say they couldn't do it all of a sudden. But they couldn't even call me to let me know, and they left me hanging. The guy basically told me "Oh well".

That's bullshit.

Option 1 will flow better, IF you are a good welder and manage to weld it in with minimal ***********. The slip fit style one that zzp uses is a heck of a lot easier to get into the system correctly.

Yeah I kinda figured the cone flowing better was obvious. Welding it on wouldn't be any harder than welding any other 2 exhaust pieces together.

And the second picture I posted is what ZZP uses, it is not a slip fit, it just reduces in a much more drastic way as you can see. Which in reality, would disrupt airflow. However, the significance, or lack there of, of the disruption due to the "cramming" effect is questionable. Why risk it though, right?

I'm not trying to make a big deal over an exhaust reducer here, and I know I am , but this exhaust setup is a fair amount over $1,000 so I'd rather do it correctly.

The zzp one isnt slip fit? that style normally works by having the bigger pipe slip over the outside of one end and the narrow end slip over the rest of the pipe (or opposite if your using it as an exducer).

How much? I'm not sure how long the Vibrant one is.

Yeah I know for sure what you mean.. The bigger side slips over one end and then it gets welded, but if it was 3" to 2.5" then the reducer would have to be like 3.25" to slip over the existing 3" that you're trying to reduce from. Get it?

Plus there are a few pics on here of their 3" to 2.5" DP and you can see what they use clearly.

Yeah, pretty shitty. They left me on my own really. I really liked ZZP, never had a problem until now, but I'm not sure if I'll order anything else.. That's shitty ass customer service dude, downright horrible.

They couldn't even have the nerve to get a hold of me, after they assured me TWO TIMES it would be no problem to do a 3" to 2.5".

Ah dang, I might just buy the vibrant one.. The flowmaster ones are 8" (They're more-so header reducers), I definitely don't have that kind of room lol! The vibrant is only 3" long

The first one I posted is from Vibrant, it's like $30, it's probably what I'll end up getting.. It merges together much nicer, as you can tell.

As for the flange, I'm not sure where to find that.. I believe it's a standard 3-bolt flange though.

mine doesn't have any leaks (that I can tell), they get the job done though for cheap, they welded my WB bung in, the only thing they failed to do is stop my exhaust from hitting the rear crossmember, still a problem today.

Sorry you got kind of a raw deal on this one. In the future when dealing with vendors always try to have their verbal agreement verified in writing so if a problem arises in the future you have more ammunition than "well you told me on the phone that....." Being able to show them their printed words is a pretty powerful negotiating tool.

Well, the thing is, I talked to Steve from ZZP, on the phone. He told me it would be absolutely no problem, and he tells me to order online, and in the comment box, to put what we talked about on the phone, so I did.

They have all the records of it, in writing, they just don't want to take care of their customer obviously.

That sucks...I just got their header/downpipe a couple weeks ago and had no issues with getting a 3"-2.5" reducer. Did you request it to be a cone style reducer? or just wanted what they offered?

I told them what ever they had was fine! What the hell! Did you get 2.5" bolt-in? I got 2.5" weld-in, that might be why.
