I was running a bad mab, 3" catless ZZP dp and 2.5" ZZP catback. It droned so bad on the highway and I finally threw in the towel. Right around 3k is the worst. I ended up just taking off the magnaflow muffler and had a 2.5" adapter welded onto the stock muffler a few days ago and now it is 10 times better. I think you need to go with a chambered muffler to quiet it down a lot. I only put the stocker back on since it was so quick...I am looking into the flowmaster super 40 hoping that will flow a little better than the stock muffler.

Thanks for everyone's input. Should I try just the resonator or just the cat first or just get both ?

I would start by getting a 26" or 30" resonator and see how you like it before buying another downpipe.

i would say a cat and a resonator will help. or just a really big resonator.

anyone know the longest resonator is that will fit?

Magnaflow makes a glasspack resonator in those 2 sizes

26" is probably the biggest you'll fit without modification

yeah i have heard that before. about how they sound good for a year then burn out. but....

"Features and Benefits: Magnaflow Glass Pack Mufflers feature a free-flowing, straight-through perforated core, and acoustical packing material to deliver that smooth, deep tone unlike some others' products to ensure long life and no sound degradation over time.

so maybe they changed the design??

Yeah, I'd say just get a nice big resonator. And I've heard good about the Magnaflows? Not any bad at least. But it shouldn't get to much note change since the muffler will still be the borla, just a lot quieter hopefully.

cat will help. 3db iirc

resonator of any style will help. ZZP is working on a special 3" angle chamber resonator for this very application. I have a prototype but production won't be completed for another month.

You could do the chambered 3" ZZP muffler/tip as well. it would help a little but probably not enough.

#1 Rasp killer:

MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

You dont want a glass pack you want a straight through XL Muffler. these things quite a car down SO much. My buddy has one on a 350z with headers, no cats, and small magnaflow mufflers at the back, with no resonator it was RETARDED loud and crappy sounding, no its a perfect level not too loud, no rasp at all, and still retains high flow. Its the best way to have a full exhaust without being stupid.

edit: you need a center/center one which this is under but it says offset.
