3 Grand Two Decisions YOU DECIDED!

Alright fellas I'm in a decision lock over 2 choices in upgrades to my 07 ss/sc. A little background on the car thats relevant to the decisions.

The car has an injen intake, zzp mid length h/dp 3", gmpp touring exhaust, 60's w/2.9 for winter 2.8 for summer custom tuned, gmpp clutch, r1 rotors with hawk hps pads, ottp stage 1 mounts, ottp h/e, sportlines on stock struts and shocks and a ottp hardcore rear sway.

The car is at 50k miles I need to change out the stock suspense setup, but an opportunity has presented itself to me for a headwork to be done and this is the fork in the road at the moment. This car will be tracked at NJMP (a road course and possibly another course this upcoming summer, possible VIR) knowing this keep in mind this is a roadcourse track car inspired upgrade!

Option 1: Fully ported and polished head with supertech valve and 78lbs springs cost :2600, lnf struts and shocks keeping the sportlines: 300 and Possible upgrade to ZZP 3inch intake: 200.

Option 1 Total: About $3100- 200 if I decided no on the 3"intake $2900

Option 2: Stance gr+ coilovers: 1500, ZZP 3" intake: 200, OTTP spherical control arm bushings: 200, OTTP rack spacers: 20, M62 port and polish and polished finished: 500, ottp stg 1 axles: 225

Option 2 Total: About $2645

Option 3 I will leave open to a suggestion of parts you guys recommend instead, the budget is $2500-3200

Thanks for your support and VOTE! This decision must be made TODAY

UPDATE!

As per the poll I am going with the headwork, the final price on the head is 2000 not 2600 so my cost did come down a bit and I will be getting the LNF Struts and Shocks with the pedders springs and hopefully another thing or two. Thank you all for your input it was greatly appreciated, especially rallyracer and maven! I'm keeping your suggestions in mind for another time.

I know almost nothing about these cars or racing, but I voted coilovers just because you said your going to put it on a road course, and from what I understand, handling is important, and the coilovers would give you much better handling over stock. And you said you really need a new suspension set up.

Im going to go with coilovers... in the twistys, suspension makes all the difference in the world.

Have a friend with a basically stock 2.2 OHV cavalier (everyone should know how slow that motor is stock).. has a real soild susp setup and still apparently takes out stage 2 SS/SCs in autoX because of how well the car handles.

I vote you dont spend $2600 on a ported/valve/spring head. LOL. AN M2R head is gonna run $1000. Valves are $265 and springs are $360......SO thats $1625, youre getting hosed for a G somewhere.....

So option 4:
Neutral balance $275(optional) Valve Springs $365, LNF dampers $300,Pedders springs $350, OTTP spherical control arm bushings: 200, OTTP rack spacers: 20, ottp stg 1 axles: 225, Goodridge brake hoses $160.

$1610-1885.

if you spend the rest on a set of lightweight wheels and decent tires Youll be just over $3000

good plan Maven. OP pm me if you need a head, OTTP rear bar completes the picture. Why the fascination with neutral balance shafts (just wonderin'?)

Just preventive measure really......first time road racing, accidental 5-1 downshift. less likely to cause issues.

I witnessed a top of 3rd to 2nd downshift, instead of an upshift to 4th. I think I almost cried.

I dont doubt it, my SS sounded the same.. After that night, it "gurgled like an STI" ever since... til we took it apart and a melted #4 piston and "steam cut" cylinder wall were found, lol.

The head itself will cost 2000, but its gonna cost me 600 for the head to get taken off and then put back on

But yes the pedders springs and lnf damps have been on my mind. What does the ride height compare to bc i like the stance of my sportlines as of now

Just the estimate right now with the shop but I think it will go lower. That was an est for ferra valves and springs

Epic.. sure... you would have to be retarded do accidentally shift from 4-2 or 5-3, lol. Atleast from 3-2 you are going in the same general direction trying to get to 4th, same with downshifting 5-2, instead of 5-4. Haha.
