3 inch pulley on stock injectors...

Hello everyone, im a new proud owner of a 2007 SS S/C. got it from an auction without even seeing the car lol...

anyways, drove the car into the shop for a quick inspection and noticed the car isn't exactly stock. Supercharger pulley has been swapped for a 3.0 inch zzp one. but the thing is the injectors seem stock to me (they are green). don't know if it has a zzp pcm, or gm reflash or a tune. is there a way to tell if it has?

also isn't running a 3 inch pulley on stock injectors a bad idea?

In any case i ordered a set of 42 lb injectors and a harness. And talked to a local dyno tuning shop who said they would tune my car once i have the injectors installed. My question is after installing the new injectors, is it safe to drive around for a little while til i get the car tuned, or would i be running into any problems?

and my final question is spark plugs. what kind of plugs should i be running with a 3 inch pulley and a tune, with no other mods?

i dont think you can put the 3 in on with stock injectors because they are basically already maxed out. Maybe if you just baby it tho

Do not pulley down on stock injectors (Lime green), they are 32lb/hr IIRC and most likely going static if you open it up. 42lb/hr injectors will let you pulley down to a 2.9" pulley.

You can tell if it's a ZZP PCM by pulling it out and looking on the back, it will say ZZP on the tag with your VIN.

That's the only way I can think of telling if it's flashed, if it's the stock PCM still it may be flashed also but I'm not sure how you could check without HPTuners. I doubt it's been properly tuned if it still has stock injectors though.

You'll need to be tuned for the 42lb injectors, and you may need to go 1 step colder plugs/tighten your gap a little. Are you planning any cooling mods?

thanks for the replies. Like i said I already ordered the 42 pound injectors and harness, I'll install them as soon as they come in. And get it tuned.

I'll also go ahead and run one step colder plugs. What gap should i use?

As for cooling mods, I don't really want to have to spend money on that, unless I have to. I don't plan on modding the car any further than the pulley/injector/tune setup. I checked to see if the IC pump is working, and it is. so i should be good with stock cooling with these mods correct?

Yes, even from the factory with stock pulley, the injectors are almost maxed, so 32's on a 3" is a bad idea. 42's will be fine with a correct tune. As for plugs, you want NGK BKR7E's, I would gap around 0.035"

Cooling, I would say at the least get a front mount heat exchanger and dual pass.

Cooling mods are good to have with a 3", not mandatory. I only have a front mount with my 2.8, want a dual pass though.

a front mount HE is not expensive and helps a lot though. Watch doing back to back runs a lot in the summer though, you'll heat soak.

If you have a 3.0inch Pulley, and 42# injectors + Harness. you SHOULD be okay runing the stock plugs.... Basicly, that's the same hadware as the GM Stage II setup.

By "basically", "most likely", and "almost" we mean they are FOR SURE maxed out!

This weekend I installed stock injectors and a stock pulley. On a stock GM tune, I hit 100% IDC just after 5k. By 5500 MY IDC was 148% and my AFR went from 10.9 to 12.5. Then the tune started to pull boost and the IDCs dropped to 130% and afr to about 12.

A completely stock car would be different but I am sure it would FOR SURE max out the injectors.

If you want your **** to go boom. They're maxed out stock, ANY pulley change requires new injectors.

K well 'til the injectors come in, I'm driving the car to/from work, but i'm keeping off boost shifting bellow 3k rpm. I shouldn't run into any trouble right? car runs fine tbh.

if you must drive it, just drive as lightly as possible but it is best not to drive it until you get the injectors and tune
