3" ZZPerformance Pully Review on a stock cobalt

Well first let me start by saying that my cobalt was completely stock.
I added the 3" pulley and NGKBKR7e Irridium spark plugs.

The install was SOOOO DIFFICULT!! j/k actually it was fairly simple but we didnt have the right tools. Ended up using a 3 pronged puller to get it off and a power steering pulley puller to install on the new hub.

It took us about 4 hours, simply because we kept having to go back adn forth to autozone to rent pulley pullers cause so many wernt working. I completely decimated my stock pulley, but i didnt plan on ever using it again any ways.

The car hits 15psi, and it pulls so much harder now. 1st gear has also become more worthless. My cousin has an SRT 4 and my other one has a Stock SS/sc ( which previously was owned by my cousin with the srt4) And we all went out racing tonight. Well lets just say the cobalt with the 3" dominated. The SRT however was having boost problems. he was only seeing 10 pounds, something is wrong with his car.

AS for compared to stock, there is no comparison, i would leave my friend every time, even when i let him punch it first. Fourth gear is so much stronger.

Problems? My only problem is im getting squealing from my belt now, i guess because i went to a smaller size my belt is too large now.

Reccomendations? Get the zzp puller and save urself alot of hassle. But unlike what the guy at zzp told me, you can actually do it without the thier pulley puller its just harder.
Use a 3 pronged puller and a power steering pulley puller to press the hub back on.

Overall? 3" pulley is a must have and is worth every cent.

u can buy a stage 2 belt from GM for $32.00 or you can buy the zzp adj. tensioner for $100. i believe the stage 2 belt is going to be to tight for a 3" pulley. you should get the zzp tensioner

^^^ what she said. To the original poster, just save up for 60 lb injectors, a 2.6 inch pulley, and a tune. Don't go in steps like me. I waisted too much money. I bought the 3 inch, then went to the 2.8 with 42 lb injectors, now going to a 2.6 and 60 lbers.

WORD

EXACTLY BRO!!! go big or go home, your gonna end up with a 2.6 one day so...

but yeah i have the ZZP 3" and its impossible to get the STG2 Belt on there!!

as for belt sqeual, check and make sure the belt is on ALL of the ribs including the crank pulley way down there and every other pulley beacuse if its lined up right it should not sqeaul..

Report back!

I agree with the last poster. My 3" pulley was fine with the stock belt. you're probably miss aligned on the A/C compressor pulley or what ever that pulley is straight down from the S/C. I've done it before and the squeel is annoying to say the least.

u dont need anything for the 3" pulley. it will run fine on the stock belt and tensioner. my belt squeaked when i didnt have the belt lined up on the actual supercharger pulley. just check and make sure the belt is lined up with everything.
