Cams, ported and polished head, Bigger throttle body, 3-3.5 inch intake, ported and polished supercharger, built valvetrain, 100 shot of nitrous lol, forged pistons, rods, a nice 3 inch header back exhaust, CLUTCH!!!, flywheel, AXLES!!!, Meth injection, Daily driven on 100 octane (ive done this..VERY EXPENSIVE), 4 heat exchangers, 2.6 pulley (seems to be the best...or even 2.7)

OH AND...I strongly suggest that someone makes a LESS RESTRICTIVE intake manifold!!! That would help out a lot

I know for a FACT that 400 whp with the M62 is possible!.......if you have something like a T3/T4 cramming an extra 10+ psi into with a massive FMIC, completely built internals, water/meth injection, cams, full 3" catless exhaust, a fully re-worked head (or GMPP race head), head studs, port/polished blower, all the fuel upgrades to accomadate ~25 psi or so and then a super clutch, traction bars, axles, motor mounts, probably a torque dampner in there too, the best tune out there, lots of dyno time to dial it in and a bottomless bank account. Then you could definetely get 400 whp, with the M62. Probably even higher than 400. But at the end of the day, it will run like crap on the street, get horrible traction, be way too expensive and way too much work. If you want to do just because nobody else has, then do something cheaper like back-half the car with a vetter IRS under it and a LS2 or something. Because I doubt anyone has done that yet.

Seriously though, its possible, but why? Thats like trying to build a 300 hp Geo Metro. Even if you could, would you really want to? I used to have a 91 DSM that dynoed 382 whp, so 450+ at the crank. Let me tell you, if it hadn't been AWD, I would never have done it. It was a bitch to drive in town, it didn't like to idle, got about 17 mpg (if I played nice) and it seemed like everytime I launched it I would break an axle, center diff, engine mount, or wheel studs (happened twice ) Had it been a FWD instead of a AWD, about the only thing it would have been good for was winning burnout contests or races that started at 60 mph.

Turbos are more effecient anyways, and cheaper, and they sound cooler. That is why the Soltice GXP is better than our cars, drivetrain wise. IT has a turbo! Way to go GM! They actually did a 4banger correctly. Thats why our car has 205 hp and theirs have 260, with only a little bit more boost.

Ok, thats my overly excessive, way too in depth, waste of time, taken way too seriously $0.02.

Good luck though!

i think 400 WHP is possible out of a stock M62. now being reliable now thats a different story. I think Rice eater has already prooven that to the LSJ community. (he didnt make the best choices though when it cam to fueling ect.)

What I plain to do and you can use this idea for yourself while your still under warranty, and its not a bad idea to have 2 motors anyway, but I plain on in the near future to buy me another 2.0 block and build it up, that way if something happens I always have another block. Just an idea ;P

Now on race gas you could make serious power. I'd recommend a forged motor your choice of pulley and 150 shot nos if you want to have a fast street car.
Well maybe not race fuel but you would have to find at least 95 or 97 and I don't know many places in the US that sell that high of octane outside of tracks. Now Europe on the other hand...

I run 10:1 and a 2.5 pulley and come run almost stock timing, just 1 degree less.

Then I added the windshield fluid and I can run more than I ever could. .5 point in compression isn't that big a difference.

I can't wait to kick your ass at firebird
