AEM DryFlow filter - replace your factory filter, no CEL
AEM DryFlow filter - replace your factory filter, no CEL
For all you guys who are tired of Check Engine Lights, and worried about having problem with warranty from those oil coated performance filters. Well, you can order an AEM DryFlow filter and it'll fit inside the OEM air box!
Our 5" long filter with a 3.25" diameter opening will just push onto the intake like the OEM filter does, and the lid of the air box will hold it in place. I saw about a 5 hp gain alone with just the filter swap on the dyno.
The part # for the filter is 21-2110D with an MSRP of $53.69
Call up your local AEM dealer for availablility and accurate pricing.
I'll post up a dyno of a stock Cobalt SS and with just the filter installed.

this is a dry filter , not oiled like the k&n , so you should not get a check engine light from it due to the MAF getting oiled
this looks to best the best option out currently
Most of us who are running the Spectre or K&N filters with the AirBox Mod are gettting CEL's because of the engine leaning out... I don't remember the code but it's a lean code.. I guess it also happens with the factory setup and my dealer said there is a GM Bulletin up for it or somethin
We don't sell direct to customers, and each dealer has their own price structure, based on what discount rate they are setup as. You can call any AEM dealer and give them that part number and they should be able to get you a price. I would guess the average street price for the filter alone would be around $40.
The filter will come with a hose clamp, so if you do take the airbox lid off, you will be able to tighten it around the filter neck.
Just putting the filter in the air box will not give more supercharger whine noise, as that will be controled by the box, not the filter.

And, also at the slower engine speeds, the car does tend to not like doing a 3rd gear pull from such low rpms. The drivetrain doesn't like it and the car will rock...which adds to the low speed bumpiness.
ah thanks for clearing that up roger... you clearly know too much for your own good :P
and yep you're right zinner. when i typed that, the fact it was sub 2500rpm, even though i was looking at it, didn't register right in my head lol

Yes, to be exact, its 8.5hp gain at 5500rpm.
Dyno pulls done in 3rd gear. In general, all 5-speeds are done in 3rd gear and 6-speeds are done in 4th gear.

Hey Roger.....nice gains with just a filter. I was wondering when your intake AEM CAI will be available? I am still waiting for the K&N Typoon its supposed too be realeased Oct 3/05. Do you have any idea what sorta hp/tq numbers extra the intake would get above the Dry Flow filter with the stock intake? Colin
