Our intake kit will be released in about a month and a half or so. It'll be a couple more horsepower than a filter alone. The biggest difference will be the supercharger whine noise increase. :P

It looks like I am going with AEM for my purchase. A dryflow filter seems like a much better not to mention cleaner solution for such a brand new car. I skimmed over the posts but didn't see anyone ask how wide open the intake will be. Also will the intake use the stock MAF?

AEM makes great products and I'm excited to see them interested in the Cobalt platform. I had an AEM Short Ram intake on my '01 Cavy Z24. That was one of the best mods that I have experienced for that car.

I tried to order this part from my local performance shop, and they had there rep call AEM to place an order for it, but the part # did not exist.

Roger, how can we order this part?

That's probably because they looked up a current price list. The part number I gave, 21-2110D is the correct part # for a dry filter. Its the same part number as the old 3.25" diameter filter neck and 5" filter length, but with a "D" on the end for DRY.

These have only been shipping in the last month.

Not every place just stocks the replacement filters. Doing a quick search, I found this website, http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/Stores/...4d28f5f1fb3f56

Its the same part as this, except needs a "D" on the end.

Yes, to be exact, its 8.5hp gain at 5500rpm.

Dyno pulls done in 3rd gear. In general, all 5-speeds are done in 3rd gear and 6-speeds are done in 4th gear.

That's awesome.. 8.5hp with the lower cover on just from a filter. nice

One thing I just thought of, is this filter reuseable like the k&n? Can we wash it and just pop it back in after it drys or what?

Yes, its washable....we have cleaning kits for it. You wash it twice (water + cleaning solution) and then once in a rinse (water only), let it dry and its good as new.

Roger, what's the ETA on the final production and sale of the AEM pipe and filter together as a kit?
After doing my research on your new filter and the quality on the pipes that I have seen on other car's, you have the only product I would trust in my brand new 05 SS /SC.

Just got word that the first article pipe is done. The only thing I need to wait on for production would be the special hose clamp we need. Will have to check on that tomorrow.

sorry about the Hi Jack, but I do plan on I/H/E on my Cobalt SS.

A cold air intake from K&N or AEM. Does anyone have one of these and have you had any problems with a CEL? Id hate to invest money in something like that and get nothing but CEL all the time...

I don't know yet...the bean counters haven't gotten that far yet. I would guess the kit street price to be somewhere around $100-140.

For a local dealer....go here to search....

That price would be much better than K&N's. Hopefully that price will hold true after the bean counters get done.

Keep us updated on this Roger. I'm also interested in the complete AEM cold air system that would take place of our stock air tube and filter element box.
