I don't mean to argue, but have a quick search for "Cold Air Intake CEL". You see, the LSJ PCM is quite sophisticated, and all those after market intakes mess with the MAF placement. How much performance are you really getting for your $$$? The stock tubing is plastic which is better than any aluminum intake... just touch your stock tube, you'll find it stays cold and doesn't absorb engine heat.

Next up you have the filter element which will be exposed to road dirt, rain and snow with any of the aftermarket choices. Only the stock airbox protects the filter from the elements.

So upgrade the filter, you'll get more flow and some nice supercharger whine and keep all the benefits of the stock intake. $50 vs $150. Your personal opinion in the end however.

Thats why you get tuned and get a hydro shield or filter cover

total ****

mine was on for a total of 4 days before I sold it and modded the airbox for a proper oiled filter

I will eventually go to an aftermarket intake, and it will be a FULL intake

Yeah, I'm leaning toward K&N or one of the vendors.

i don't like the fact AEM gives you a small chrome plastic piece, and expect you to pay over $100

true lol. i wasnt completely sure what you were asking..
but if your in an area where rain and snow isnt always a factor, aem is not a bad way to go. they left the stock tubing for their intake because they made sufficient gains out of this design.

It's not a short ram. It's a cold air intake.

The AEM is very good intake. I had one for almost 2 years and loved it.

Get a hydroshield and you will be set.

It is an aluminum intake. Same as all the others. AEM found during testing that replacing all the stock tubing showed little to no gains. AEM is also good for warranty purposes as well. The dealer will have no idea you have a modified intake with it.

On a side note all intakes for the lsj do pretty much the same thing (im so tired of saying this). You will gain about 7-9whp, and have louder supercharger whine. It really comes down to personal preference when selecting one.

The only problem with this statement is that with certain intakes when tuning at higher hp's the maf is skewed, zzp has corrected this issue with proper maf placing. When you relocate the maf, you can have issues.

My vote is as follows, if you don't have a cai and you are buying one, you would be the stupidest person in the world to not buy zzp's. It's the PROPER setup for our cars in my opinion.

If you have tuned a car that has issues idling with an injen intake, you would understand

I have the injen with zero idle issue. Actually, i never had any serious issues with any of the intakes I tested on my car (i've had a few). The only intake I had that skewed anything was the RAW intake.

I have the injen also and have no idle issues.

Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance

Straight from zzp.

"Dont be fooled your Injen or ebay intake they are only 2.5" ID. They also screw up your MAF signal causing idle and WOT fueling issues. They also are known for rubbing on your frame rail and rubbing a hole through your intake tube causing big time issues. Our intake is a true 3" all the way through. You will gain horsepower with our intake, not just sound. Let your blower scream!"

Thats ZZP trying to sell their intake (ive read that many times). The K&N intake is the exact same size as the Injen which is actually 2.75" (around 2.68" I.D.) for the most part (some spots are 3": MAF section & rubber elbow), and they have nothing to say about that, because they also sell it. I don't buy into certain stuff people say when I test products and see for myself what works ya know? I'm not saying the Injen is the best either, because it hardly made any diff over some of the other intakes i tested. I got it for a great price and liked the extra eye candy it provided under the hood. Also, mine fit perfect. I have none of the rubbing issues, and it doesnt press on my brake lines (common 07' issue). I took my time installing it.
